Today, we celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day and honor the people and land that have welcomed VISIONS into their communities year after year.
We’ve spent 36 years on the Blackfeet Nation, one of Montana’s seven reservations, and have also served alongside the Northern Cheyenne, Crow, and Flathead communities. On the Blackeet, we are based on Yellowbird Woman Sanctuary, which is named for Eloise Cabell, a prominent figure in work for justice for Native people.
Thousands of miles south, VISIONS has spent 27 years in Urubamba, Peru, working side by side with the Indigenous Quechua people. Every summer we return to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, at the base of the Andes.
We’re grateful to share in these sacred cultural practices and to keep building lasting relationships with our local partners and the land. We stand alongside Indigenous communities today and everyday as advocates in amplifying their voices.🌻
