Day 15. The day I got to visit some of my most favorite people!
Every day I was in Ukraine was a day of listening, learning, and seeing firsthand how God is using people to reveal Himself to others. But for me (if I can say so without offending anyone) the day I get to go to Troyanda, a resident home for physical disabled outside the town of Ladyzhyn, is one of my most favorite days! And this year was extra special because we not only got to visit the ladies we support who give extra therapy and love to the children, but we also met two new people. One was Dime who lives close by and often comes with his guitar and youth from his church to visit the children. Second was the new director, one who knows each resident’s name and has made some wonderful changes!
I was presented with a certificate of appreciation which I gratefully accepted on behalf of so many; donors, CFK’s board members, ministry partners and our Ukraine volunteer TEAM. Please accept these kind words of appreciation for your part in this amazing ministry.

Day 18 of my recent time in Ukraine was full of fun, friendship, fellowship, as well as bitter reminders.
First we went to a resident home for young adults with disabilities which prevents them from living on their own and they have no family to live with. But they are a family, caring for each other and cared for by loving workers. Together with the directors we made plans for the residents to take a field trip into Vinnytsia which Ira writes about in her post.
Next was a stop at a “nursing home”, another type of residential home for more than just the elderly. We wanted to spend a few minutes visiting with Tamara who suffers from a vitamin deficiency disorder. Tamara snicked out to meet us on the road because our TEAM comes to this home often and if the other residents caught wind we were there we would have never been able to leave!
Then Ira drove us down a dirt road to the river where there were two memorials for mass killings during WW II. A sobering moment, but a time for our group to reflect upon the choices they make and who they listen to in life.
Lastly we managed to drop in for a visit with Pastor Igor and his wife. Last year was very difficult for them, with the uncertainty of being drafted and the burden of managing the church when there are no deacons or assistant pastors left. But this year was different, about to turn 60 he is now exempt from the army and some new IDPs are helping him in the church ministry. We had a great time of singing and sharing what God is doing in his town as well as what he feels the church in Ukraine needs to be preparing for in regards to the physically and emotionally damaged soldiers and their families.
The whole day I was thinking how blessed I am to see how God is changing lives, how our TEAM members are growing in their serving hearts and abilities, to experience the rich culture and learn from the atrocities of the past. And the whole day I was wishing that those of you who make this work possible could have been there with me. You are a blessing to so many, and you are missing out on being blessed. Maybe next year?
