Text 2 Stop It!

empowers students, educators, and school communities with an anonymous, two‐way texting platform that enables real‐time reporting of bullying, harassment, drugs, weapons threats, and su***de concerns. Because students text. And when given a tool they trust, we can stop events before they spiral.

To give every child a **safe voice** in school. To make reporting simple, anonymous—an

d meaningful. To help schools respond faster, smarter, and with data to back it up.

**How It Works**
• Students send a text message—no app download, no login required.
• Two‐way live texting allows follow‐up questions, location/time clarification, even photos/videos.
• Transcripts and alerts are sent securely to trained school counselors or administrators.
• Fully anonymous and student friendly—because the most comfortable channel for kids is already in their hands.

**Our Impact**
In Maryland, Text 2 Stop It! was the catalyst for the passage of Maryland House Bill 669 (HB 669) on April 18, 2017—authorizing schools in the state to operate anonymous two‐way texting tip lines. Our program achieved a **71%+ reduction** in reported bullying incidents in a Maryland school system, demonstrating that when students feel safe to speak, numbers drop. Yet statewide, reported bullying/harassment/intimidation incidents have climbed—from ~6,100 in 2016-17 to ~8,800+ in 2023-24—showing the need for proven tools like ours.

So far this school year, 7 guns have been recovered at City Schools. On September 1, Jeremiah Brogden was shot and killed outside Mervo High School. A suspect has since been charged and arrested.

We are pleased to announce that Alvin Butler, founder or Text 2 Stop It!, has just been certified to teach the Youth Mental Health First Aid Course to groups who work with kids. This course provides the tools, teachers, coaches, youth pastors and others who need to recognize and help kids with the mental challenges faced with. Text 2 Stop It! is a free text hotline. Our driving mission is to provide an anonymous reporting tool for kids who experience or witness bullying, drug distribution, weapons in schools, self-harming behavior, or other concerning actions by their peers, as well as an accessible emotional support resource for all children experiencing life stressors including but not limited to bullying, peer pressure, substance use, mental health crisis, and physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. Our 24/7 text platform allows dedicated volunteers to provide confidential support and possibly life-saving information as needed. Our goal is to expand the success of the Text 2 Stop It! to a national level so that we can help more kids. Your support, at any level, would help us achieve this goal and allow us to protect more kids and potentially save even more lives.
