🚨 STOP SCROLLING — TUSK HAS BEEN FAILED ENOUGH🚨
🆘 BEFORE THERE IS ANOTHER URGENT LIST — WE NEED OUR COMMUNITY TO HELP TUSK NOW 🆘
How many times can a dog be asked to start over before we finally give him the stability he needs?!
Tusk has bounced from temporary home to temporary home, and with every transition comes another heartbreak, another adjustment, another unfamiliar environment, and another reason for him to wonder if this home will be the one that finally keeps him. 😔
Every move means starting the decompression process over again. Every new person means learning to trust again. Every goodbye can reinforce the very insecurity we are trying to help him overcome.😢
And Tusk is paying the price for circumstances that are NOT his fault. 💔
At the shelter in July, Tusk was described as sweet, affectionate, attentive, eager to please, easy to redirect, excellent on leash, gentle with treats, calm and patient. He played appropriately with another dog and has successfully lived alongside a resident dog, even spending a month cuddled up on the couch with his canine housemate. 🐾
But Tusk needs more than another temporary landing spot.
He needs someone willing to say, “You’re home.”🏡
Someone who understands that the 3-3-3 rule is a guideline, not a deadline. The first 3 days can be overwhelming. The first 3 weeks are about learning the routine and beginning to decompress. Around 3 months, many dogs are finally beginning to feel truly secure. Tusk deserves the opportunity to get there.
He is a typical 2 yo high-energy terrier-type dog who needs an active person willing to give him a job, structure, exercise, enrichment, training, and patience. Long walks. Runs. Hikes. Adventures. A fenced yard would be wonderful.
He needs someone who understands that excitement, anxiety, leash pulling, and overstimulation do not automatically mean a dog is “bad” or unmanageable.
Tusk needs someone who will WORK WITH him, not give up on him when he isn't perfect after a couple of weeks.
No cats. No small children. Dog-friendly with slow, appropriate introductions.
Ideally, we want Tusk adopted into his forever home. ❤️🩹
IF a permanent home cannot be found in time, a stable foster with the right experience could also give him the bridge he desperately needs. But ideally our goal is permanent furever placement 🙏🏽
Because Tusk has already spent too much of his life wondering where he belongs.
He doesn't need another temporary stop.
He needs a home.
He needs consistency.
He needs someone willing to let him decompress, rebuild his confidence, learn to trust humans again, and discover just how incredible he can be.
And once that happens? We believe Tusk could become the incredibly loyal, devoted companion he has been waiting to be.
His beginning may not have been easy. His middle certainly hasn't been fair. But his story does not have to end here.
Tusk want you to know:
“My beginning and middle haven’t been the greatest, but I’m not really one to hold a grudge.
Turns out, I actually REALLY liked the whole family-dog lifestyle, in my former home.
I love being around my people. I enjoy having dog friends.
I’m basically just waiting for someone to look at my face and say…
“Yep. That one. I want Tusk.”
Which, personally, I think should’ve happened already, but apparently humans take these decisions very seriously.
I am a toddler and do need a little work on my leash manners now. I get anxious and excited because I don’t feel settled. There are smells. There are squirrels. There are things that clearly require my immediate attention. I’m working on it, I promise.
But what I really want is pretty simple.
I want a family that’s mine.
I want to learn your routine. I want to know which side of the couch is “my spot.” I want to hear your car pull into the driveway and know my people are home.
And more than anything, I want to unpack my imaginary little suitcase and never have to pack it again.
I want a better life.
I am true to the resilient breed that I am. I just needed a soft place to land to continue to decompress, lots of reassurance, love, and consistent structure to be my best self.
Now I’m just waiting for someone to give me time to show my true potential, I promise I can make you yappy
Could that someone be you?
Love,
Tusk 🤎
