Huge news out of Silverton, Colorado:
The Baker's Park Trail System just secured a massive $1,107,500 in new grant funding for Phase 2!
Massive congratulations to our friends at the Silverton Singletrack Society, San Juan County, and the Bureau of Land Management - Gunnison Field Office for making this happen.
Phase 1 brought close-to-home singletrack to a community that previously had no purpose-built trails, seeing nearly 3,900 users in its very first season. Now, Phase 2 is about to blow that wide open. Our IMBA Trail Solutions build crews are heading back to Silverton in July to lead the charge on this next phase alongside the Southwest Conservation Corps, local contractors, and community volunteers.
Here’s what’s coming to Phase 2:
* ~9.84 miles of new trails, more than doubling the current system mileage.
* A progressive mix of terrain (29% beginner, 53% intermediate, and 18% advanced).
* Shared-use & accessible: Perfect for mountain bikers (including Class 1 e-bikes), hikers, and runners.
* A stacked-loop design with hubs and clusters so you can customize your ride.
* A new trailhead restroom and wayfinding signage.
While this funding milestone keeps the momentum rolling, the vision for Baker's Park is a world-class 30-mile network. There is still work to be done to cross the final finish line, and they need our community's support to get there.
Let's show Silverton some major IMBA love! Chip in to help build the vision, clear the remaining hurdles, and support the project here:
