One of our common questions: what actually happens?

Not the science. Not the study design. But: what is it like to be in one of these sessions?

Participants in the Hopkins and NYU trials have described it in ways that surprised even the researchers. People who had been paralyzed by fear said they felt, for the first time in months, a sense of peace. Some described feeling held. Others said the fear didn't disappear, but it lost its grip.

One participant in the Hopkins trial sat up during his session and said: "Everyone deserves to have this experience." His wife was in the next room. She said she barely recognized him when he came out. Not because he was different — because he seemed, finally, like himself.

This is what the research is pointing toward. Not a cure. A different relationship with what's hardest. We're here to help you understand it. sachiconnect.com

If you've found yourself wondering whether there's help for the mental and emotional side of a cancer diagnosis — you're not alone.

Some have come across this novel therapy in a news story, a documentary, or a friend. And then - this feeling that it's so overwhelming and probably too experimental or not even approved.

But this isn't mad science anymore. The research is compelling.

That's exactly why Sachi exists.

We're here to help cancer patients and their families understand what the research actually says — without the jargon, without the overwhelm.

For nearly three decades, the research just… stopped.

The war on drugs shut down clinically promising research that could have helped patients for decades. In 1999, research finally started again.

That research is now reaching cancer patients who are struggling not just physically, but emotionally. Patients who deserve every option available to them.

We built Sachi because we believe those patients — and their families — deserve to know this science exists.

When someone you love is facing cancer, the hardest part isn't always the physical. It's the fear. The 3am thoughts. The sense that the person you knew is somehow slipping away even before anything has happened.

Author and journalist Michael Pollan (.pollan) brought this conversation into the mainstream with his book How to Change Your Mind — writing about the research on guided therapy sessions for people navigating cancer, depression, and end-of-life anxiety. His work helped millions understand that the emotional and psychological side of a cancer diagnosis deserves the same serious attention as the physical.

That research is real. It's growing. And it belongs in the hands of every patient and family navigating this.

Sachi exists to make sure it gets there.

If you've ever watched someone you love lie awake the night before a scan — the fear, the uncertainty, the weight of not knowing — you know that cancer affects far more than the body.
In 2016, researchers at Johns Hopkins and NYU published two independent studies on the same day. Both found that a single guided session produced an 80% reduction in anxiety and depression in cancer patients. Effects that lasted six months or longer.

Not a small improvement. Not "somewhat better." 80%. Lasting. In one session.

Two of the most respected research institutions in the world. The same result. Published simultaneously.

Sachi exists to help you understand what the research says — and what it means for you and the people you love.

When someone is diagnosed with cancer, there is no shortage of information online — clinical trials, treatment protocols, therapy options, research papers. It can be overwhelming, especially when you're already carrying so much.

We've been there. We started Sachi because we went through it — as a family watching someone we loved fight — and we felt like we were running out of answers.

Sachi exists to collect and simplify what's out there, and present it in a way she understood it.

If you or a loved one are facing cancer, you already know the diagnosis doesn't only affect the body.

The fear. The grief. The quiet weight that follows every appointment, every scan, every moment at home when the conversation goes quiet.

The spiritual battle is just as important as the physical one.
There is growing research suggesting that novel therapies like psychedelic-assisted therapy may offer real, lasting relief from the anxiety and depression that so often accompany a cancer diagnosis.

Sachi is here to help you understand what that means, what the research actually says, and whether it might be relevant for you or someone you love.

We built Sachi for you.

Welcome to Sachi.

We are built in honor of Sachiko, who battled colorectal cancer for 9 years before she left us in 2021. She fought hard, she loved her family, and she faced the weight of that fight without resources to help in the mental and spiritual battle.

This page exists to change that. We are dedicated to education and community for cancer patients and their families — researching and sharing the newest information about emerging treatments to help in the mental and spiritual battle with cancer. We believe there is more available to you than you may know — and we are here to help you find it.

We are Sachi. We are sons, daughters, caregivers, and survivors who have seen what's possible with these promising therapies..

We built Sachi for you. Visit us at sachiconnect.com.
