Right now, states are scrambling to figure out how to absorb billions cuts to Medicaid insurance buried in the so-called "One Big Beautiful Bill." Yesterday's rushed work requirements rule from CMS will only make it worse — unless Congress reverses these cuts.

Millions could be at risk of losing health coverage. Rural hospitals could face closure. Older adults, people with disabilities, families, and entire communities could feel the impact.

That's why we're collecting stories from people whose lives have been touched by Medicaid.

🤔 Good question…

As families are feeling the crushing weight of rising healthcare costs, policymakers have been hoarding our tax dollars into a war chest — not back into the wellbeing of their own people.

Meanwhile, talks of ballrooms security and hateful rhetoric around immigrants are derailing the health and safety of real people. This isn’t making us better. It’s making us sicker and poorer.

Enough. We deserve answers about our broken healthcare system.

Rural hospital closures are driving more people to further distances to receive care. For the 2.3 million women living in maternity care deserts, this growing crisis is particularly dangerous.

Only 41% of available rural hospitals offer labor & delivery, according to research by the Center for Healthcare Quality & Reform. In 12 states, less than one-third do.

Lisa, and millions like her, credit the Affordable Care Act for keeping her and her hope alive.

As people across the country feel the weight of rising costs, she says the ACA “is, for many, the only bridge between their unforeseeable medical emergency and the life saving medical care needed to survive their medical emergency.”

But intentional cuts to the efficacy and affordability of these life and hope-saving programs is making it harder to stay afloat.

For politicians who put profit over people, this is by design.

Today’s Trump event on maternal health care comes at a time when the U.S. is facing a very real maternal health crisis. But we cannot have an honest conversation about solutions while ignoring the biggest drivers of harm.

Black women in America are still 3 to 4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. That disparity is not accidental — it is the result of systemic inequities in health care access, treatment, and outcomes.

At the same time:
• Medicaid — which covers 4 in 10 births nationwide — is under threat from massive proposed cuts
• Families are struggling with the affordability of care
• Access to comprehensive reproductive health care, including abortion care, continues to be attacked

Maternal health care must include racial equity, affordable coverage, and the freedom for people to make their own health care decisions.

Anything less avoids the reality families are facing every day.

A major change to senior care in Fresno County, California is moving forward — quietly.

A nonprofit provider with dozens of facilities is proposed to be sold to a for-profit company. These deals can reshape care — impacting affordability, quality, and access for residents and families.

A public meeting is scheduled for this Friday at 2:30PM to hear from the community.

These moments come quickly and fly under the radar for policymakers, advocates and impacted communities alike.
