A small non-profit, pre-apprenticeship program in the building trades. The People’s Academy has a vested interest in every community.

The People’s Academy (TPA) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to empower Boston’s inner-city, at risk residents, by training them in the area trade of fabrication and installation of metal, specializing in copper. The People’s Academy strives to provide viable employment opportunities for disenfranchised youth, with a commitment to self-sufficiency and neighborhood/community improvement

. Our mission is to train youth and adults to be skilled craftspeople in the building trades. We facilitate dual career paths in unions or self -employment, engender commitment to neighborhood improvement and self-sufficiency and spread the gospel of high quality workmanship. The People’s Academy’s goal is to enroll and graduate 30 students per year. The two year program begins with the basics of the building trade, culminating in hands-on training and skills to begin working in fabrication and installation.

The People's Academy is not only about the trades, yet we teach students how to become entrepreneurs (by jewelry making). T. Michael Thomas is not only a Master Instructor, yet he can create ANYTHING OUT OF COPPER. EMERGENCY ALERT PRESS PLAY and WATCH WITH INTENTION TO CHANGE LIVES.

It has been an exactly a year that HISTORY WAS MADE!!! The City of Boston granted The People's Academy the land on 436 Warren st, 7-9 Quincy St., 20-22 Glenburne st. Roxbury, Ma. This is the FIRST TRADE SCHOOL IN BOSTON that will provide residency for 49 women and men in total. WE are going in the right direction to not only EMPOWER LIVES, yet ENHANCE Our communities at the same time.
