We’re still smiling about this special day!

Our Norway Day Program celebrated Valentine’s Day with a party full of dancing, treats, and lots of smiles.

We also marked an exciting milestone, their 1-year anniversary of opening! Thank you to Katherine’s Bakery & Cafe in Norway for the beautiful and delicious cake that made the celebration even sweeter.

Spring may be here, but we’re still smiling about this winter day!

On February 21st, our Ventures Day Program in Norway enjoyed a snowy adventure visiting the Ice Castles with residents. The winter weather made it even more magical, and everyone had such a great time exploring and making memories together!

Last week, we celebrated the season with cookies, conversation, and plenty of creativity at our Ventures Day Program in Norway. Everyone enjoyed spending time together before making their own ornaments to take home. We also loved seeing the festive decorations they helped create. A joyful part of the holiday season here at New Communities.

We’ve been getting into the holiday spirit at many of our programs! Clients gathered evergreen tips, some from our Embden location at sunrise, and created beautiful handmade wreaths. We also celebrated a client-led Friendsgiving, complete with a menu they planned and prepared together (lasagna included!).

A wonderful season of creativity, friendship, and festive fun at New Communities is underway!

The Norway Ventures Day Program clients participated in their first ever Special Olympics event last week! They attended the regional bowling competition and had a wonderful time cheering each other on and connecting with other athletes.

The group also brought back a beloved team name, The Xtreme Team! We’re so proud of them and excited to support their journey in future Special Olympics events.

Our Norway Ventures Day Program and residents participated in the annual Norway Downtown Halloween event on Main St. on Halloween, handing out candy to families and children dressed for the occasion! Everyone had a fantastic time getting into the Halloween spirit.

New Communities Ventures Day Program – Madison is diving into some exciting passion projects! These projects combine what our clients want to learn and do with the interests and talents of our staff.

Earlier this month, we hosted a Hiking Safety session and last week, we put those skills into action! On a brisk fall afternoon, we explored the beautiful trails at Robbins Hill Scenic Overlook in Solon. We had such a great time that we’ve decided to make hiking (or snowshoeing!) a monthly adventure.

Residents from Carriage House and Madison House enjoyed a whale watching trip in Rye, NH. They saw five humpback whales, including Clamp, Ravine, and Sedge, plus two pods of porpoises while cruising aboard the Granite State to Jeffreys Ledge. It was a beautiful day filled with laughter and learning about Gulf of Maine marine life from the Blue Ocean Society.

On August 5th, some of our leadership team joined communities across the country in celebrating the 2025 National Night Out, a nationwide event that strengthens community-police partnerships and brings neighbors together. New Communities was proud to host a carnival-themed booth at Coburn Park in Skowhegan, where guests of all ages enjoyed ring toss, bean bag toss, prizes, popcorn, and a special carnival snack mix!
