Come see what Wildwood is all about at our last Open House of the year on April 28th! We play games, try experiments, enjoy time outside, meet new friends, share our interests, and so much more. Want to try Dungeons and Dragons? Make your own needle-felted animal? Create an artistic mask? Whip up a battling scribble robot? Discuss mythological creatures or historical civilizations? At Wildwood, you choose your own path and join an inclusive community based on consent and shared decision-making. Everyone has a voice! Check out our flyer for more info and RSVP through the link below!

Wildwood is accepting applications for 26/27 starting February 25! Limited spots are available. Please contact us at [email protected] before February 25 if you are interested in Wildwood, have questions, or would like to schedule a visit. We also have an open house coming up for anyone interested in seeing what Wildwood is all about. (See flyer below for details and how to sign up.)

We strive to make Wildwood accessible to all despite any financial restraint. We ask all residents of NC interested in possibly attending Wildwood to apply for the NC Opportunity Scholarship during the priority window which is open now and ends March 2! https://k12.ncseaa.edu/opportunity-scholarship/ The scholarship provides a significant reduction in tuition. It can be declined later on, so even if you are unsure about attending Wildwood, you can apply now with no risk. There may not be another chance to apply if the March 2 deadline is missed.

๐ŸŒŸ Join us for โ€œA Mini-Wildwood Dayโ€ ๐ŸŒŸ
Thursday, February 19th, 9:30am-11:30am

Is your family interested in self-directed learning? Are you looking for a supportive learning environment filled with creativity, encouragement, and subject matter that expands beyond the basics? Curious about what kind of things happen here? At Wildwood we...

๐ŸŒŽ Plan each day, week, or year based on interest. The possibilities are endless! Some things we've enjoyed are: exploring quantum physics, improving upon our needle felting techniques, adventuring in Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, creating films and music, cooking and baking, lots of games, tag, imaginative play, and so much more! Everyone is a learner, and everyone is a teacher.
๐Ÿ“ Create and practice new community agreements together using consensus-based decision-making. Young people are empowered and have a voice.
๐Ÿ’กAllow space for spontaneity, social connections, and new ideas to arise.
๐Ÿค Have a thriving community based on consent, partnership, and trust where we practice and support healthy communication.
โฃ๏ธAim to create a safe, inclusive, and affirming space.

This is a great chance to see what our amazing community is all about! Use the link below to sign up and/or get more info.

We canโ€™t wait to meet you!

We couldn't meet as much in person at Wildwood this week because of all the snow, but we sure did have fun when we were together! Lots of outside play in the snow and indoor cozy crafting and DnD. Wildwood is a rare program where everyone is disappointed when we don't get to meet, so snow days feel a little bittersweet.

We had a great time at Grandfather Mountain exploring the natural environment and learning about different animals. We saw otters, bears, eagles, cougars, and elk.

Grateful for recent community connections that brought us sweet snuggles, science in action, and meaningful conversations about restorative justice. ๐Ÿ’›
Dr. Cooper from Appalachian Veterinary Ultrasound taught us the science behind ultrasound imaging while performing an ultrasound on Bella, a sweet pregnant bulldog. ๐Ÿ’•
We got to spend time snuggling baby goats and learning how they are cared for ๐Ÿ
Weโ€™ve been discussing alternatives to traditional criminal justice systems and were lucky to have a visit from folks at the Mediation and Restorative Justice Center (MRJC). We learned how they reduce and repair harm by using restorative processes to increase respect, peace, productivity, and safety in communities. Such approaches focus on accountability, rehabilitation, and community support rather than just punishment...which led to some awesome reflections around how we use these practices at Wildwood and how they can be applied on a larger scale. You can learn more about their mission at [https://www.mrjc.us/](https://www.mrjc.us/).โœจ
