Meet Heidi McMillan β€” a scholar-athlete who says yes to everything, and excels at all of it. πŸŽ“

At Boise High School, Heidi competed in six sports β€” volleyball, cross country, cycling, swimming & diving, tennis, and basketball β€” while leading far beyond the scoreboard. For her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouts, she led the creation of a community pollinator garden from idea to finish, coordinating volunteers and resources to build a lasting space for environmental education. Her advice to younger athletes says it all: get involved, step outside your comfort zone β€” the experiences are worth it.

Heidi is headed to Oregon State University to study BioHealth Sciences and Mathematics on the path to medical school, with a goal of becoming a physician and improving patient care in her community.

Heidi is one of 14 recipients of the 2026 Alice & Charles Taylor Scholar-Athlete LEAD Scholarship, recognizing Idaho student-athletes who embody Leadership, Educational excellence, Athletic achievement, and Distinguished community service.

Meet Owen Hatfield β€” an eleven-sport athlete from Council High School! πŸŽ“

Meet Julianna Donez β€” a four-year varsity athlete trading the court and track for the clinic. πŸŽ“

At Mountain Home High School, Julianna competed in basketball and track & field, learning the value of perseverance, teamwork, and simply showing up β€” early-morning practices, late-night games, off-season training, all of it. But her sights are set beyond the scoreboard: she's headed to Walla Walla Community College to study Physical Therapy, turning years as an athlete into a career keeping other people moving.

Ask her who got her here and she doesn't hesitate β€” her mom, her role model, who fought relentlessly for her kids no matter what.

Julianna is one of 14 recipients of the 2026 Alice & Charles Taylor Scholar-Athlete LEAD Scholarship, recognizing Idaho student-athletes who embody Leadership, Educational excellence, Athletic achievement, and Distinguished community service.

Meet Chase Norman β€” an eleven-sport athlete. Yes, eleven. πŸŽ“

At Dietrich High School, Chase competed in football, basketball, swimming & diving, weightlifting, track & field, skiing & snowboarding, volleyball, baseball, cycling, golf, and soccer β€” the kind of do-everything commitment only a small-town athlete knows. But ask him about his proudest moment, and he won't list a stat: it's encouraging his teammates through a challenging season, and learning that leadership means putting the team's success ahead of your own. He credits his parents β€” his mom for keeping him focused in the classroom, his dad for teaching him the hard work and discipline behind the athlete he's become.

After serving a church mission, Chase is headed to Brigham Young University to study Cybersecurity, working toward a career protecting organizations and helping people stay safe online.

Chase is one of 14 recipients of the 2026 Alice & Charles Taylor Scholar-Athlete LEAD Scholarship, recognizing Idaho student-athletes who embody Leadership, Educational excellence, Athletic achievement, and Distinguished community service.

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’œ Want to shape the trajectory of a young girl's life? Be her coach.

Here's what we've learned: the surest way to get girls into sport β€” and keep them there β€” is a great coach who believes in them. That's where YOU come in.

We're proud to partner with Girls on the Run Idaho - Treasure Valley as a strategic partner of The Taylor LEAD Foundation through our iWIN Sports (Idaho Women & Girls in Sports) platform β€” and right now, there's a hands-on way to show up for girls close to home.

🧑 VOLUNTEER TO COACH β€” West Elementary (Mountain Home)
No running experience needed β€” just heart! Coaches help girls build confidence, resilience, and joy on and off the course. A stipend is available for West Elementary coaches.
πŸ“… Practices: Mondays & Wednesdays, 3:00–4:15 PM
πŸ—“οΈ Season: Sept 9 – Nov 4, celebrating with a 5K on Saturday, Nov 7 in Boise (about 45 minutes away)!
✍️ Apply here: https://www.pinwheel.us/volunteer/signup/Fall26-Coach-App

A few weeks of your time can change how a girl sees herself for a lifetime. πŸ’ͺ

πŸ“Ž Flyer attached β€” please SHARE with anyone who'd make a great coach: teachers, parents, neighbors, former athletes. You never know whose life you'll change.

When girls play, they lead β€” and we all win. πŸ™Œ

Meet Malia Kent β€” proof that small towns raise big leaders. πŸŽ“

A four-sport athlete at Richfield High School β€” cross country, volleyball, basketball, and track & field β€” Malia's story is one of resilience: bouncing back from mental and physical battles and pressing forward in the classroom and in competition, even when it was hard. She'll tell you that showing up matters, that leadership doesn't end when the captain's title does, and that it's really about what you choose to do and how you choose to do it β€” a mindset she credits in large part to her mom's example of love, kindness, and forgiveness.

Malia is headed to BYU–Idaho to study Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, working toward becoming a Physical Therapist Assistant.

Malia is one of 14 recipients of the 2026 Alice & Charles Taylor Scholar-Athlete LEAD Scholarship, recognizing Idaho student-athletes who embody Leadership, Educational excellence, Athletic achievement, and Distinguished community service.
