📄 DID YOU KNOW? In Idaho, you don’t need a special license to serve legal papers.

Under Idaho Rule of Civil Procedure 4(d)(1), any competent adult who is 18 or older and not a party to the case may serve a summons and complaint.

That doesn’t mean anyone should. Proper service takes accurate locating, correct timing, precise documentation, and a solid affidavit of service that will stand up if challenged. A botched service can delay a case for months or get a default judgment set aside.

👉 Working with an experienced process server or PI protects your case from the first step.

🔍 DID YOU KNOW? Idaho and Washington have very different recording laws.

Idaho is a one-party consent state (Idaho Code § 18-6702). As long as you're a party to the conversation, you can generally record it without telling the other person.
Cross the border into Washington, and the rules change. Washington requires all-party consent for private conversations (RCW 9.73.030).
For investigators working North Idaho and Spokane-area cases, this matters. A recording that's perfectly legal in Coeur d'Alene could be a crime in Spokane, and it could be thrown out as evidence.
