An informative article titled “AB 747: California Bill Overhauls Process-Serving Rules” is recommended for individuals involved in process service for California clients or those seeking to modify their current process procedures. The article provides comprehensive insights into the changes introduced by AB 747, which will take effect on January 1, 2027.

Key features:

*Process servers must make at least three in-person attempts on different days and at different times before using substitute service

*Every proof of service must include date-, time-, and GPS-stamped photographs of the service location or attempt

* Each county clerk must maintain and publish a public register of process servers.

*Codifies a permanent right for defendants to challenge default judgments tied to improper service without a strict time limit.
