To Our Steelheads Family & All: Tragedy has come to the family of one of our own. Gary Fletcher was struck and killed by a truck while he was crossing a street in Meridian, Idaho, just before Christmas on Dec 23. Gary was the father-in-law of Kory Scoran, former Steelhead and current Director of Youth Hockey for the City of Boise.
The unexpected passing of the beloved father of Kory’s wife Melissa was devastating, leaving the family with difficult decisions and expenses they were not prepared for while trying to grieve this loss.
Gary was a proud veteran who also served in the National Guard.
He was a kind and generous man, always thinking of others, and did not save a lot for himself, so there is very little funding to assist with this sudden and unexpected loss. Gary was originally from Enterprise, Oregon, and it was important to him - and to his family - that he be laid to rest there. The family is asking for help with transportation costs to take him home to Oregon, along with funeral and memorial expenses. If there are any remaining funds, they will be used for related expenses as the family navigates this loss.
