Call for Internships: Boise State Urban Studies

Boise State is seeking Summer and Fall 2026 internship opportunities for Urban Studies students. These positions serve as vital educational experiences, allowing emerging planners to apply their multidisciplinary foundation in planning and community development to real-world projects.

Hosting an intern is a premier opportunity to mentor the next generation. While students bring fresh perspectives and technical skills like GIS or research, they also look to your expertise to help bridge the gap between classroom theory and professional practice.

To discuss hosting a student or to learn more about our program requirements, please reach out to Jillian Moroney at [email protected].

Across Idaho, communities are struggling to recruit and retain vital workers as housing costs quickly outpace local wages, creating a critical pinch for schools, hospitals, and local businesses alike. Ensuring that teachers, healthcare professionals, and tradespeople have affordable places to live is essential for a thriving economy, but developing these homes requires strategic knowledge and statewide collaboration.

To support local decision-makers, LEAP Housing is offering a free, self-paced Workforce Housing 101 Training tailored for elected officials, community advocates, and housing changemakers. Available in both online and in-person formats, the curriculum delivers a foundational understanding of workforce housing, actionable development strategies, funding sources, and peer-learning opportunities.

For professional planners, this curriculum is also approved for APA Certification Maintenance (CM) credits.
