Das Alpenhaus is celebrating its 9th Annual Oktoberfest on September 18th & 19th from 3–10 PM! Expect traditional German food, Oktoberfest beers, live music, pretzels, brats, and plenty of Bavarian fun. 🇩🇪

A quick community heads-up for our neighbors: 🐀📈

Ada County is taking a closer look at the growing rat population across the Treasure Valley and will be holding a discussion on September 2 to better understand the issue and what can be done moving forward.

Local health officials, pest experts, and community partners will be part of the conversation. The public is welcome to attend or watch online.

It’s an issue affecting neighborhoods across the valley, and we’ll continue sharing updates as more information becomes available.

🌲🌳 The City of Trees Challenge is back!🌳🌲

Starting September 1 at 9 AM, Trees Idaho will be giving Boise residents the chance to receive one of 400 trees, with 9 varieties available that grow well right here in the Treasure Valley.

Trees went fast last year, so be ready right at 9 AM! Trees are delivered to your home, and volunteer planting assistance is available too.

A $20 donation per tree is requested to help support future giveaways, volunteer programs, and community forestry education. If cost is a barrier, reach out to [email protected] for a discount code.

The DBNA is continuing to advocate for student safety in our neighborhood. 💛

With construction near Latah & Alpine impacting the usual walking route to Jefferson Elementary, our community has been working together to ensure students have a safer way to get to school.

Check out DBNA board member Gwen’s interview with Idaho News 6 to learn more about the concerns, the temporary walkway, and how neighbors and local agencies are collaborating to keep Jefferson students safe. 🚸🏫

As we get closer to the start of the school year, we're concerned about the safety of students walking and biking to Jefferson Elementary.

With the ongoing construction at 10 S. Latah, the sidewalks along Latah and Alpine are no longer fully accessible. This means many children traveling south on Latah or west on Alpine will now need to cross at the Latah & Alpine intersection just to continue their route to school.

If this impacts your family or if you share these safety concerns, we encourage you to report the issue to ACHD so they are aware of the challenges students will face this school year. The more community feedback they receive, the better they can understand the need for a safe solution.

This is what community is all about.❤️

Last week, the City of Boise connected with the Depot Bench Neighborhood Association after hearing from a neighbor who needed a helping hand. To help prevent a pending City fine, 10 incredible Depot Bench volunteers came together on a Saturday morning to clean up her yard.

When they finished, our neighbor shared:
"I'm so happy you're here. Please know I'm in here with tears of gratitude because of you, beautiful yard heroes!" 💚

Moments like these are what make the Depot Bench so special. Neighbors showing up for neighbors when they're needed most.

🚧 Boise Bench update!

The City of Boise is currently studying the Latah + Alpine intersection to improve safety, parking, and accessibility in the area.

Proposed ideas include enhanced crossings, pedestrian refuges, new sidewalks, multi-use paths, improved connections to spots like Morris Hill Park and Jefferson Elementary, and potential parking updates.

The city is currently gathering community feedback on three proposed alternatives. That input will help guide future projects once funding becomes available.
