Great news I got a new kidney January 4th. I am still in the hospital but all systems are a go and they expect to discharge me tomorrow. Thank you to everyone that shared my need and prayed/ prayer works. Now off to infinity as Buzz Lightyear says.

Few people are "open books" about themselves. Being vulnerable brings a sense of being seen that feels uncomfortable. I'm going to be an open book for a moment and share my thoughts.

The average wait time for a deceased kidney in SC is 3-4 years. In March, it will be 6 years that I will have been waiting.

I never thought that the wait would be this long. I never realized that the path to a new kidney would be this difficult.

Will you share this post? A living donor is a GREAT option, and it only takes ONE person who's willing to share a kidney to make a difference.

Dean is good for another year on the transplant list at Prisma. He had his annual visit today with the transplant team.

The path to a kidney transplant for me has been a crooked road and not a straight one. In the past 1.5 years we have received 9 calls from the transplant center. In each case the circumstances have been different but so far none have worked out.

Sunday night we received another call. Everything seemed to be lining up.... we even went to the hospital for the first time. I cleared all initial tests but the transplant team was concerned about a cough I had developed. Further testing showed I had Covid....with the anti rejection drugs I would receive after transplant the risk was too high to proceed.

Through this journey that continues I am thankful for friends, family, and medical professions.

I don't quote scripture often but Job after all he went through said to the Lord in Chapter 42 verse 2 " I know you can do all things no purpose of yours can be thwarted" so we continue the wait and trust God knows the way forward.

I am still on the wait list for a kidney but got good news as I passed several annual exams with flying colors. Just waiting on that perfect match.

Just had my annual check up at Atrium in Charlotte. All good as far as my health goes. Just waiting on the right opportunity for myself and my family. Thank you to everyone that is praying for me.

Instead of going to the clinic three days out of the week for five hours, he now spreads it out over five days and spends three hours on a machine in his living room.
