GWK HAS A BEEF WITH HUNGER!
National DAR Day of Service 2026

And we're doing something about it!

On Friday, October 9, members of the George W. Kendall Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, in Boerne, Texas, rolled up their sleeves for a MEATY service project at Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries!

Our Daughters sorted and packaged over 2,500 pounds of donated meat into 10-pound bundles to help provide meals for families in need throughout the Texas Hill Country!

Beef, pork, chicken, turkey, lamb, sausage, hot dogs, fish, shrimp, and just about every cut of meat imaginable! It was a busy morning, and our volunteers certainly had their hands full! And our service didn't stop there! The George W. Kendall Chapter also donated $100 worth of canned chicken to help provide additional food for families in need.

Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries serves families across eight counties, providing food and essential resources through partnerships with churches and community organizations. The ministry's Christian mission is rooted in helping those facing poverty and need through the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Community service is an important part of the DAR mission, and our chapter is proud to support organizations that make such a difference in the lives of our neighbors.

Over 2,500 pounds of meat, hundreds of bundles, and a whole lot of helping hands!

George W. Kendall Chapter Honors Boerne Mayor Frank Ritchie!

We had a wonderful surprise for Boerne Mayor Frank Ritchie!

The George W. Kendall Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented Mayor Ritchie with the NSDAR America 250! Commendation Certificate and Medal in recognition of his efforts to celebrate America's 250th birthday and honor the men and women who achieved American independence.

The City of Boerne has embraced this historic anniversary with celebrations throughout the community! Stars-and-stripes lighting along Main Street, patriotic decorations at City Hall, Main Plaza, and Veterans Plaza, and special exhibits at Patrick Heath Public Library have helped make this a memorable year.

The Texas America250 Traveling Exhibit visited the library in July before moving to City Hall in August. Other festivities included patriotic quilt displays, a free family night at the pool, Fourth of July fireworks set to music, and performances by the Boerne Concert Band.

What a pleasure it was to surprise Mayor Ritchie and recognize his contributions to Boerne's America 250! celebration!

George W. Kendall Chapter Celebrates Constitution Week in Boerne!

We had a wonderful Constitution Week in Boerne!

Mayor Frank Ritchie officially proclaimed September 17–23, 2026, as Constitution Week in the City of Boerne, and our George W. Kendall Chapter celebrated with expanded displays at Patrick Heath Public Library.

Working with the library staff, our Daughters created two complete Constitution Week displays—one upstairs for adults and another downstairs in the children's section. We also added an informational table and framed Constitution in the library lobby.

Our Chapter Librarian donated two Constitution-themed books to the children's library for our youngest readers to enjoy.

We were especially pleased to have Mayor Ritchie tour the displays and give them his stamp of approval!

A big thank-you to the Patrick Heath Public Library staff and our GWK Daughters for all their hard work. What a pleasure to work together and share Constitution Week with our Boerne community!

Memorial Day

This Federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May commemorates the men and women who died while in military service. All Americans are encouraged to pause, wherever they are, at 3:00 pm local time for a minute of silence.

Memorial Day 2026 ❤️🤍💙

Members of the George W. Kendall Chapter, NSDAR, joined in remembrance and service throughout Memorial Day weekend.

In preparation for Memorial Day, chapter members helped tidy the Boerne Cemetery grounds and place flags on Veterans’ graves as a tribute to those who served our nation. As each flag was placed, a moment was taken to quietly reflect on the service and sacrifice of our Veterans.

On Memorial Day, members were honored to participate in the VFW Post 688 ceremony at the Boerne Cemetery. The presentation of the Colors, r***e salute, and the playing of Taps served as moving reminders of the courage and sacrifice of those who gave their lives in service to our country.

We are grateful for opportunities to honor these heroes and preserve the tradition of remembrance for future generations.

Two years in a row. Service continues to shine in the George W. Kendall Chapter.

Our chapter has again been honored with the Service to America Award for the Highest Number of Service Hours in Texas among all DAR chapters.

This recognition reflects the generous heart for service of our members, whose volunteer hours support DAR’s mission of historic preservation, education, and patriotism throughout our community.
