Alumni Spotlight Coming Soon: Christian Yates

Some Bluefield State stories come full circle.
Christian Yates chose BSU because it allowed him to stay close to home while pursuing a quality education rooted in real-world experience. What he found was more than a university. He found faculty and mentors who knew his name, opened doors, challenged him, and helped prepare him for the career he is building today.
Now, as Christian prepares to graduate from Bluefield State for a second time—this time with his MBA; his journey reflects the heart of the BSU experience:
resilience, opportunity, growth, and community impact.

From being named Outstanding MBA Student of the Year to now working with the Bluefield WV Economic Development Authority, Christian continues to carry the Bluefield State legacy forward in meaningful ways.

We are excited to share more of his story in an upcoming issue of The Pride on the Hill, the official newsletter of the Bluefield State University Alumni Association.

Sydney Hoosier’s story is one of purpose, discipline, and pride. As a former student-athlete and Mechanical Engineering major, Sydney came to BSU ready to compete, study, lead, and make room for others coming behind her.
Her journey speaks to the power of representation, the strength it takes to succeed in demanding spaces, and the importance of mentors who refuse to let you fall short of your potential.
