So our updates with insurance continue. Our representative helping us at Vanderbilt has been fabulous, she calls BCBS every 48 hours. She called them at the deadline that was required for the Peer to Peer date to be scheduled.
What they told her was another stall tactic. They told her now, they actually haven’t “officially” decided if they are denying the procedure or not. They are still deciding. Our understanding is this is in violation of their procedures of required timelines and we have not been sent a 3rd official denial notification.
I can only grateful that we are lucky enough that Ryan is stable other families are not so fortunate. I can’t imagine fighting like this in a different situation. It is also one of the reasons we sought out this procedure so early, in case we ran into an insurance battle. Wanted to give ourselves plenty of time.
So now another thing to add to to our list, calling to fight the insurance company some more.
We are the employer that carries the Insurance for all of our employees. So we are cautious with the fight. And have left most in Vanderbilt and Histotronics hands to fight for us. Thankfully they have been amazing advocates. They have not had this much push back before. Lucky us! 🫣
Thankfully as of Ryans’s last scans everything is stable with no growth of the tumors. His CA-19 levels had jumped up a bit. But they always tell us not to pay attention to those numbers. Sometimes a jump in that CA-19 can be a good thing, showing that the tumor is dying off and shedding in the body. So we will keep the prayers going that that is the case. It’s something for us to focus on, in between scan times. They are coming back down again. Ryan gets scan after every 4 chemo cycles. So in about one month we will see how we are progressing. That’s the true test. 🙏🤞
Thank you all so very much for all your prayers and generosity. We are so unbelievably humbled. Ryan has said WHEN he beats this he can’t wait to turn around and give it back to the community that is rallying around us right now. You all are amazing.
