Hello friends! I am a Reiki Master in "The Usui System of Natural Healing" and am establishing a non-profit that will get Reiki services to veterans as well as reserve and active duty military. This inspiration has come through a collaborative work with my Reiki Master Richard Casey who continues to support me in the manifesting of this! Offering Reiki to veterans as well as active duty military i
s not something new. In my research I have found that there have been Reiki practitioners as early as 2003 focusing their attention on supporting veterans and military personal with Reiki. They have not only supported our current war veterans but also those from previous conflicts. The earliest account I have found of a Government funded program that utilizes Reiki was started in 2007 in Fort Bliss Texas. Here there has been established what is called the Warrior Resiliency Clinic and this clinic utilizes various supplemental modalities, including Reiki, to support active duty soldiers who are on the brink of being medically discharged because of PTSD. Soon after this clinic was established Fort Hood, an active duty Army base, established a clinic in 2008 with the same focus of treating PTSD called the Warrior Combat Stress Reset Program. Based off one of the articles I have read, as of 2013, there are as many as 14 other similar facilities throughout the Army offering the same alternative support. There is a VA clinic in Northport New York that has received a grant from the VA’s office of Cultural Transformation that allowed them to train the staff in various supplemental modalities and offer these modalities to veterans. There are also other VA clinics I have heard of on the East Coast that offer and train veterans in Reiki but not substantial enough to be found in my research. The obvious has been occurring now for a while and that is medications and talk therapy are not cutting it! That there has to be a focus on the entire being: mental, emotional, and spiritual for any significant, lasting, positive change to take place. This is a very good article with regard to the reason for establishing the Warrior Resiliency Center in Fort Bliss and the perspective of the Vietnam veteran and clinical psychologist who established, Dr. John Fortunato. http://www.army.mil/article/11001/c...
What I am intending to do, starting with my local area, is creating a bridge between veterans, active duty, and reserve military personal to receive the benefits and support of Reiki services. I have been in contact with my local VA clinics in Danville and Peoria with regard to Reiki but have received very little interest in talking any more about it. So, I decided to take another route and visit with local veteran and reserve organizations here in town that would be interested in hearing me speak about Reiki and how it has been of benefit to veterans and active duty military personal already and how it can be of benefit to each of these organizations as well. My intention with this effort is to not only support the local military community but also create awareness as well as a testimony base that will allow me to have a louder voice when approaching the VA clinics that are at the moment not interested in speaking about it. Through this effort I have been able to establish speaking engagements with the local National Guard unit as well as my local American Legion post. I have also been in contact with other non-profit organizations that support veterans about receiving support and funding. I have been working with a non-profit called the Prairie Foundation that is an intermediary for which whatever funds are raised would be managed through them until I have officially established my non-profit status. Earlier today when I spoke with them and they mentioned to me that the non-profit I am starting is the only non-profit associated with them that is focused on the veteran community. I am putting this out there because I am looking for your support as well. I am looking for opportunities to speak with any organization that desires to support veteran, reserve, and our active duty military and how it can be accomplished through providing them with Reiki services and trainings! I am looking for your support in spreading the word! I see all the opportunities that are being provided to me to speak with people of influence who desire to support our military and I know many of you have influence as well as interact with people of influence who have an interest in seeing our military supported. I am excited about what the opportunity of Reiki can bring to my fellow brothers and sisters! Thank you! Dale Day
