Meet Our Founder: Max McColl

Max is more than the founder of MCM Brain Injury Foundation—he’s a traumatic brain injury survivor who understands firsthand the challenges, setbacks, and victories that come with life after a TBI.

Today, Max is dedicated to helping other brain injury survivors and their families access resources, support, and hope during some of life’s most difficult moments.

His journey is the reason MCM exists: to remind survivors that they are not alone and that recovery is possible.

Turning adversity into advocacy.

May may be over, but the conversation around mental health doesn’t end there.

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, and we remain committed to advocating, educating, and creating safe spaces for men to speak openly about their mental health.

Too many men continue to suffer in silence because they feel pressure to “stay strong” or hide what they’re going through. We want every man to know that asking for help is not weakness — it’s strength.

Our mission to support mental health awareness continues every single day, not just during one month of the year. Let’s keep showing up for one another, checking in, and breaking the stigma together.

You are not alone.

05/30/2026

This year, Max is inviting you to join him at Miles for MCM, whether that means walking the 5K, becoming a sponsor, or simply helping us spread the word.

After surviving a traumatic brain injury, Max experienced firsthand how difficult recovery can be. While he was fortunate to have support, many survivors and families face the journey without the resources, guidance, and community they need.

That’s why MCM exists.

When you participate in Miles for MCM, you’re helping provide support, education, and hope to individuals and families navigating life after a brain injury.

Join us on June 28 at the Detroit Riverwalk and help make a difference, one mile at a time.

Max’s life today looks different.

But it’s also full of strength, resilience, and progress.

The truth is - he had more support than most, and that’s not the reality for so many families.

That’s why MCM was created.
To provide support, resources, and education around the real experiences of TBI.

If this hit home, you’re part of this story now too. We'd love you to join us in being a part of what we’re building.

No one prepares you for this part.

The reality families face…
and the gaps you don’t see until you’re living it.
