I serve at the pantry, and I’m blessed to greet everyone who comes through the door. It is such a blessing to serve the people of this community and help them in their time of need.
Today my heart was deeply touched by a couple of new individuals who came to the pantry in need of assistance. It is often hard for people finding themselves in need to ask for help. That was the case of these two individuals. They come with humble hearts and deep gratitude for the warm greeting and help they receive. For one of these individuals it was especially hard and he wanted to know how he could give back. This deeply touched my heart and I was grateful for that experience. It is our prayer that those who come to the pantry will feel the love of the Savior through us as we serve them and offer them a small measure of hope.

“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”
Matthew 25:40

A very Happy New Year to all from Blairsville’s Ecumenical Food Pantry.
Last year in 2024, our volunteers and generous donators served over 1,500 family units including over 4,400 individuals of which 11% were newcomers.
We began 2025 on Thursday, January 2nd serving 17 families including 49 individuals with two newcomers and five senior citizens. We had eight hardworking volunteers including four women (Virginia, Carolyn, Mindy and Ellen) and four men (Greg, Chuck, Rex and Lodi) as well as Allan doing the food pick-up.

Of special note, all of us tip our caps and send our heartfelt gratitude to Judy for her many years of service including over seven years at this food pantry serving God and his people. Please don’t worry, Judy; you have passed the torch and we can handle it!

We are so grateful for the support of our wonderful community. It is because of each of you that we are able to help provide much needed food for individuals and families who are struggling.

The week before Thanksgiving our shelves were empty having served 83 families! We gave a shout out to the community and you responded beautifully and helped restock the shelves! Thank you!

We would be remiss if we didn’t also acknowledge the great support and donations that we receive from Save-A-Lot, Mountain Outlet, and our partner churches!

This is a beautiful community we live in!!

We wish you all a very blessed Christmas!

This past Wednesday when we came to set up the pantry for Thursday our hearts sunk when we discovered that our freezer quit working. Several pounds of chicken, ground beef, and hotdogs were lost. Oh, what an awful smell!
We witness time and time again God’s tender mercies and His hand in the work we are engaged in to bless and help care for His children.
As a few volunteers shared with others what had happened, someone knew someone who had an old freezer that they weren’t using, they gifted it to the pantry. Another person stopped into the pantry and donated money to go towards the purchase of a new freezer. Witnessing these tiny miracles is just some of the blessings that come to us as we engage in good works!
If you would like to make a donation towards the purchase of a new freezer you can drop off or mail it to the Ecumenical Food Pantry
