Is it a ghost of the forest? Nope, just a deer! ๐ŸฆŒ

Meet the Leucistic White-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus)!

๐ŸšจFun Fact: Leucism occurs in less than 1% of white-tailed deer populations. Unlike albino deer (estimated at about 1 in 20,000 births), leucistic deer still produce some melanin, which is why they have normal dark eyes instead of pink ones.

โšกWhite-tailed deer can run up to 30โ€“35 mph and leap nearly 8-9 feet high, meaning even this pale standout can disappear into the woods in seconds!
If you saw this rare species in the wild, would you believe it to be a deer, or would it be the subject of your next campfire ghost story! ๐Ÿ‘ป

Despite a group of crows being commonly referred to as a murder, these are very social and affectionate birds. Crows will mate for life, and they form families up to around 15 crows, with their young helping raise new babies for a few years before starting their own families. During the winter, families will travel to join large communal roosts that can reach up to two million crows!

Did you know! It is extremely rare for opossums to carry rabies. While all mammals can contract rabies, opossums account for less than 1% of rabies cases reported to the US CDC. Their immunity is largely because of their lower body temperature, ranging from 94-97 degrees Fahrenheit. The virus requires a higher body temperature, typically between 100-102 degrees Fahrenheit, in order to replicate effectively and infect the central nervous system.

The Northern Raccoon (Procyon lotor) or the Trash Panda is a nocturnal mammal that is as smart as it is cute. The Northern Raccoon is a very intelligent animal that can rival even small primates. They have even been found to solve puzzles with their five-fingered hands and remember the solutions for up to three years!
