We are excited to invite you all to the 1st ever Culture Day at Virginia Tech. On this day we encourage you to attend your classes wearing something that represents your culture wether it be full cultural attire, a national sports jersey, or jewelry/accessories. This will spark conversations and lead to new found perspectives.

Join us after classes at 5:00pm in Squires Ballroom wearing your attire (not required) and continue the celebration by learning about other cultures, watching live performances, tasting cultural food, and experiencing a fashion show!

More details to come in coming weeks. We hope to see you all there!

Homelessness in America • For this video we traveled to Richmond to interview homeless people and VCU students to hear their thoughts on homelessness. We wanted to compare each perspective and share with you the experiences of both sides.

Homeless people are continuously alienated and suffer hardships year round. You have the power to change that by educating yourself and giving back.

We recently held a fundraiser that raised money for goodie bags full of essentials that will be distributed to the homeless in Washington DC.

A statement from the members of Closing the Gap regarding the actions of Turning Point USA at Virginia Tech.

As an organization that facilitates conversations between individuals who have opposing views, we allow people to voice their perspectives freely. However, we draw a line at hate speech that attacks and hurts other groups of people.

Every student has the right to feel comfortable and safe in our community, and any action or statement that jeopardizes this should never be allowed.

Pro-Life or Pro-Choice • For our next discussion, we’re going to be talking about abortion and the different perspectives that people have on the topic. In this video, we’ve gone around and asked VT students what their stance is on abortion, and whether they feel that they’re pro-life or pro-choice.
