Wow, today is exactly why Crafts & Companions was founded - bringing fun, creativity and smiles to seniors faces! I had such a blast at our THIRD location! Thank you Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber for having us! The residents did such a great job with their rock paintings! We had 9 artist residents and 2 more residents to hang out with us! I love hearing a resident say “oh I don’t think I can” and then create a wonderful piece of work! They make my day as much as I hope we make theirs! 🥹✨🩷

Today residents designed their own swim suits! They did such a good job! It was fun to hear about their past swimsuits or what they’d wear (or not wear) now! ☀️

The seniors today at StoryPoint Gahanna Central celebrated Christmas In July so we leaned into that by creating snow globes! They really enjoyed putting me to work for once, helping glue and add the water but they did a great job picking out their figurines and deciding what to put in their snow globes!

Today the Gahanna residents created popsicle stick wall hangings! They did such a great job! This group loves to paint so it was fun to see them in their element! We had a big group which made it even more fun to see while creating the same project all the different creativity that was explored!

On This Day 2 years ago…Crafts & Companions has been around even before officially becoming a nonprofit and we are more than making crafts! We are about companionship and relationships. Creativity and self-confidence. Support and kindness. It’s about showing up for the residents and helping waking them up to remind them “Art is today!”, about helping when they need a push in their wheelchair, about making sure they have everything they need for a successful class like their oxygen. It’s helping them in any little way we can. It shows support. It shows kindness. And it shows someone cares. Wanna volunteer? Give me a shout - we’ve got a new location on the books!
