Crafts & Companions

Last week (on what would’ve been my grandparents 65th wedding anniversary 🥰) I had the opportunity to appear on NBC4 Columbus Living to talk about my passion project, Crafts & Companions! Take a look!

The residents at StoryPoint Gahanna North did a fantastic job with their framed collages today! We had lots of laughs and fun! These ladies sure did bring a big smile to everyone who attended, especially me! Thank you for having me! 🎨

Thanks to a generous donation from a supporter we were able to use Birds & Blooms Magazine to create these beautiful framed pieces! I’m always in awe of what they create! They picked what they wanted to frame themselves and then my assistant for the day (my cousin and one of Sandy/Grandma’s great granddaughter’s 🥰) cut out each image and glued the pieces to frame! What a fantastic day! StoryPoint Gahanna Central

Our first fundraiser, Collage for a Cause, was a huge success! Our community rallied around us with amazing raffle items to help us raise money to bring arts & crafts to seniors in assisted living facilities free of charge! We are still very small and very new so a longer thank you post is in the near future after playing some catch up this week! But for now, thank you to our board, volunteers, family and friends, the and the support felt from far away! We couldn’t have asked for a better turn out! Stay tuned for more to come!! (And how beautiful were everyone’s collages?! Come on!!! 🥹)
🦋 THANK YOU! 🦋✨

It’s never about the quantity of residents it’s about the quality of the time we spend together! Today 2 residents help create paper tube birds that we will show off at our event next Sunday! I’ll deliver them back and they’ll reside in the windowsills! They did a fantastic job!

Come see these pieces and more next weekend!! https://givebutter.com/collage-for-a-cause

Today the residents at StoryPoint Gahanna Central made felt butterflies. They were all pretty hesitant but with the help of our awesome volunteer Betsy and 2 high school volunteers, they warmed up to the project and created some really pretty butterflies!

Wow, today is exactly why Crafts & Companions was founded - bringing fun, creativity and smiles to seniors faces! I had such a blast at our THIRD location! Thank you Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber for having us! The residents did such a great job with their rock paintings! We had 9 artist residents and 2 more residents to hang out with us! I love hearing a resident say “oh I don’t think I can” and then create a wonderful piece of work! They make my day as much as I hope we make theirs! 🥹✨🩷
