Tremendous news on an initiative that will benefit herds in North Dakota and across the great plains!

The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) is among the first grant award recipients for the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation's (NFWF) Grassland Resilience and Conservation Initiative!

MDF has been awarded $4 million to help improve the health and resilience of grasslands and grazing lands on priority landscapes in the Great Plains. We thank NFWF, McDonald's USA, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and several McDonald’s USA beef and beverage suppliers for their financial contributions to the initiative that MDF will use to support our conservation efforts related to mule deer and wildlife habitat.

In an Outdoor Life article on the recent cougar culling project in Utah our Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) president and CEO provided a brief statement. MDF helped collar the deer who will be tracked and monitored as part of this project. Currently, we are supporting this study in hopes it provides key insights into mule deer populations, so we can work on habitat solutions to improve mule deer numbers in Utah and across the West. Habitat health is our top priority, but we recognize that in some instances predator management can play a valuable role in achieving better outcomes for wildlife.
