Honoring D-Day

Today, we pause to honor the heroes of June 6, 1944 — the brave Americans who stormed the beaches of Normandy and forever changed the course of history. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to freedom continue to inspire every mission we undertake.

At Western ND Honor Flight, we are humbled to walk alongside the veterans who carried the weight of that day and the generations who followed in their footsteps. Each trip we take is a promise: we will remember, and we will ensure their stories live on.

To every D‑Day veteran — and to all who served in WWII — we offer our deepest gratitude. Your bravery shaped the world we know today. We honor you, we thank you, and we will never forget.

This Memorial Day, the Western North Dakota Honor Flight family remembers the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom. Their sacrifice is the reason we can gather, speak freely, and live in peace.

To every Gold Star family, we hold you close in our hearts.

To every veteran who has traveled with us, your stories keep their memory alive.

Today marks 81 years since Victory in Europe—May 8, 1945—when the Allied forces triumphed over tyranny and brought an end to World War II in Europe.

As we commemorate this anniversary, the Western North Dakota Honor Flight pauses to honor the brave men and women who carried the weight of that victory. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering resolve shaped the world we know today. Many of them returned home quietly, rebuilt their communities, and asked for little in return. Their legacy lives on in every freedom we enjoy.

We are humbled to serve our WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans by ensuring their stories are remembered and their service is never forgotten. On this VE Day anniversary, we extend our deepest gratitude to those who fought, those who served at home, and those who never made it back.

May we continue to honor them not only in memory, but in action.
