We have now reached 200 cities dumping Flock this year (so far). Want yours to be next? Check out the election toolkit from NoALPRs to see what your next steps should be.

"Every ALPR or surveillance contract in this country was approved by an elected official who can be voted out. City council members, county commissioners, sheriffs, and mayors must all be held accountable. "

The acceleration of DeFlocks are so exponential that it's hard to keep track.

August saw 83 municipalities DeFlock. These first few days in September have already seen 45 more. That means that the last 6 weeks alone have accounted for almost 70% of the DeFlocks for the year.

It is CRITICALLY important to keep pressure on your public officials to ensure that these are removals of ALL ALPRs, not just Flock specifically. With what these last few weeks have shown, the iron is hot now and there's no better time to call or email your city councilors or other representatives and voice your concerns. The national DeFlock site has a great starting guide on what points to address:

A BIG FIRST FOR THE STATE OF ALABAMA - the Walker County Commission has passed a resolution banning all ALPRs from county roadways - not just Flock. A small step for the folks in Walker County, but a big leap for the privacy for all folks in Alabama.

Texas officer Zachary Klein using Flock over 10,000 times to track an ex-girlfriend and those close to her sounds extreme, but as time goes on it's becoming clear how routine of abuses to this degree are.

A Lufkin police officer faces felony charges after an affidavit says he used Flock license plate readers to search an ex-girlfriend's plate more than 10,000 times.

Public pressure is working, and our voices across the nation are starting to be heard. 109 municipalities have already DeFlocked this year. Over HALF of those have come from this month alone (55 known as of August 30)!

We cannot let our public officials use the rising unpopularity against Flock as a convenient scapegoat. We cannot let them remove Flock, only to replace them with similar ALPRs or other surveillance technologies.

We must continue demanding accountability and transparency, and stand up against mass surveillance.

"We are funding our own surveillance and how that data is used against us is kind of gross"

Check out what we & others had to say in this article!

Surveillance cameras and automated license plate are mounted on power poles throughout the city, but residents have never been asked if they're comfortable with it.
