☎️Daily Action Call, Monday, May 4th, DO NOT GERRYMANDER OUR CONGRESSIONAL VOTING DISTRICTS ☎️
📚Background
👉🏻Within 48 hours of the Supreme Court ruling, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall asked the Supreme Court to lift the federal injunction that had been blocking Alabama from redrawing its congressional map until after the 2030 census,
👉🏻Governor Ivey called the Legislature into a special session beginning Monday, May 4 at 4:00 PM.
👉🏻If the injunction is lifted, Alabama would likely revert to the 2023 map that contained only one majority-Black district of 7 total districts, in a state where Black residents make up 27% of the population.

1️⃣ My name is [Name] a constituent of yours in Hoover, AL. I am calling to urge you not to support gerrymandering our current congressional district voting map. You cannot in good conscience make voting districts even more unfair than they already are for black voters, who are just about 1/3 of Alabama’s population. Deliberately diminishing the voting power of black voters would be openly racist and does not follow through with your oath of office to represent all Alabamians in your district.
