Deanna Reed for Change Advocate for Change Deanna “Dee” Reed has been a voice for the people for as long as she can remember. Dee also joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Dating back to her days at Banks Middle School, Dee took interest in doing the morning announcements for her fellow students. A Birmingham native and District 2 resident, Dee has always loved using her platform to make a difference in her local community. She learned early lessons of what it means to live a life of purpose as she watched her father serve in the Smithfield community as the pastor o

f Old Pentecost Temple before his passing. Her involvement continued to grow during her time at Miles College. She spearheaded many outreach projects such as book drives and voter registration drives. before graduating from Miles in 2011 with a degree in Public Relations. Not only was Dee active on campus, but she also served as a member of the Birmingham Youth Advisory Council. This organization, created by the Birmingham Division of Youth Services, helps those between the ages of 19-25 take on a more active role to improve their communities. Dee has also helped out surrounding communities in disaster relief. After a tornado destroyed Centerpoint Elementary School in 2012, Dee led efforts to replace playground equipment lost in the storm. She also helped her own in the Gate City community explosion by organizing relief efforts. Read more here: http://justradioonly.blogspot.com/2013/12/on-dime-radio-turns-to-help-community.html

She made sure that they were the market leaders in creative, stand-out and lifestyle related promotions. Dee is determined to work hard so that District 2 receives the representation it deserves. As the Birmingham program coordinator for The Rickey Smiley Foundation, she is in constant pursuit to make a greater impact across the city. Dee leads the charge with Birmingham Alive; a back to school rally that gives away thousands of school supplies, valuable information and resources to children and adults. Dee works as an event manager at Bruno Event Team, where she plans and executes some of the country’s largest sporting events. Aside from managing events, Dee volunteers her time by speaking at churches, mentoring young students and giving back to the great city of Birmingham.
