It’s that time of the year! The Alabama Law Enforcement Explorers Adviser Association Competition!!! Explorer Sergeant Xavier Norman, Explorer Tyrone Thompson, Explorer Nathon Long, Explorer Rico Young are representing Post 12 today in Montevallo. Lead Adviser Officer Francesca Clark and Adviser Alex Vildibill have es**rted the team this morning. Special thanks to BPD Detective Sergeant Vanessa Jackson, Detective Jamie Canino and Detective Miller for assisting ALEEAA as well! Let’s go BPD!!!

Proud of our Explorers during the 2017 ALEEAA Explorer Competition! Competed in 3 events. Placed 2nd in Domestic Incident and 3rd in Uniform Inspection (I think we got robbed on that one!) Great job to all the teams. Time to buckle down and get back to training!

Congratulations to Sgt. Kevin Brand for being nationally recognized as the Explorer Adviser of the year, by the National Sheriffs' Association. Sgt. Brand serves as the Adviser of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office Explorers (Alabama).

What a day! Started before the sun with Explorer Smith doing an interview with Jeh Jeh Pruitt WBRC on WBRC FOX6 Good Day Alabama, followed by a visit to the Birmingham Police Department (AL) Major Crimes where Chief A.C. Roper officially presented our Explorers with their badges! The capstone to the day was attending the Greater Alabama Council, BSA American Values Lunch where they got to meet and listen to Shaquille O' Neal. Our Explorers represented well! It's time to get back to chopping wood!

Thanks to their donation, FOP Lodge #1's donation and the great staff at MAC Uniforms & Equipment the new uniforms are coming along great!!

The uniforms purchased thanks to a great donation from FOP Lodge 1 have arrived! Now to get patches sewn on and pants hemmed with the help of Municipal and Commercial Uniforms! Our Explorers are going to look sharp!

Cleaning out the Explorer cabinet and found some pictures of some amazing Explorers being promoted!! They have gone on to be amazing adults and we are very proud of them!!

On December 19th and 20th Explorers Post 12 visited the US Marshall's Service office to receive situational training. Utilizing the Virtual Fi****ms Training system Explorers were placed into decision making situations similar to what officers face on a daily basis. This training will be invaluable as the Explorers continue to prepare for the 2017 ALEEAA Competition.

On December 19th, FOP Lodge #1 made a donation to the Explorers Post 12 to assist in purchasing new uniforms. The Explorers post has not received new uniforms in over 4 years.
