We're kicking off the summer with some mental health self-care!

Sunday the 26th from 4-5pm will be our inaugural support group for neurodivergent adults.

How to participate: Simply click the Zoom link in the Mighty Network event page at 4pm or a little earlier on the 26th to be added to the group.
Here's a link to our Mighty Network: https://alabama-neurodivergent-alliance.mn.co/

What to expect: Part of this first session will be dedicated to establishing group rules and to setting expectations. After that, everyone is free to share, discuss, and commiserate. Anything you may be going through, struggling with, or even something you're excited about- feel free to share them with the group.

Privacy: Arin will go over this more in-depth during the meeting, but it goes without saying that anything shared in group is shared in confidence and should not be discussed outside of group.

The Alliance has been assisting with the planning of this year's Alabama Autism Conference in Tuscaloosa (Feb 23), and we're excited to announce that advocates are now welcome to attend a portion of the conference for free! Anyone interested is welcome to attend the "Understanding and Advocating for Your Rights" presentation given by ADAP, and afterward, to attend the talk given by the self-advocate speaker and author Dr. Kerry Magro. The ADAP presentation starts at 1:30pm, and the talk by Dr. Magro will start at 3:15.

We're also pleased to announce that, in order to increase accessibility for people with sensory sensitivities, the conference is implementing a sensory room this year. And we helped design it! We're pretty proud of it. Hope to see you there!

More information below:

Each February, the Alabama Autism Conference presents the latest research regarding the diagnosis and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
