How do you define joy? I think it has meant many different things to me over the seasons in my life, but now more than ever, seeing joy and hope in others is what lights up my heart. God said we can do this simply by loving others like ourselves. Yesterday we were able to throw a Christmas party for those we love. There was ornament painting, Christmas fingernails, carols, delicious food, and who doesn’t want GIFTS. Seeing the women light up as they opened gifts and just enjoyed the day reminded me that God must love seeing us light up when He gives us blessings!

This ministry is hard but sometimes we get to see a beauty that most people don’t. My prayer and hope is that one day these women will step into the freedom God has for them, and one day be a gift to someone else!

We do not like to share pics of the women, because we want to respect their privacy, but I got a few to share the spirit of the day!

A federal jury convicted one man of the s*x trafficking of seven females - including juveniles - over a four-year period. His father, authorities said, facilitated his son’s coercive scheme by serving as a monitor of the victims and rule enforcer.

They said she would never make it. They said she would never change.

They were wrong!

"A", the name we will call her, was an addict and had been trafficked for years. We met her after a suspected pimp called us for help for her after she had been s*xually assaulted. She was broken, tired, and had little to no hope.

The average of a survivor going into and leaving a program is around seven times. "A" has been in and out of more like around 20. Then this amazing thing happened... love wore her down and she surrendered. Her advocate loved her, encouraged her, and never gave up on her. Sounds a lot like how Jesus loved me until I surrendered. That is our whole mission at Hope-Filled Rooms... to love like Jesus, truth with grace. We want to love those who others discard.

But what happened to "A"? She is in a program about to graduate, over a year sober, got her GED, and helping others.

Praise God we get to do this. We want to continue doing this and so much more. Our desire is to have a safe house to help women in emergency situations. We have found a property we love but need your help to make it a reality.

If you feel led to be a part of this journey, please consider donating your end of the year giving towards this goal! Also, please share our goal with others, especially businesses looking for places to donate.

We know it is a BIG goal, but we also know we serve a BIG God!!!

Just click the link below to donate or send us a message and we will send you the address.

A safe/emergency house is the first step towards a life of freedom.  Please help us help them by giving them a place to go when the women are free from the life that have been in.

Can you imagine a stadium that could seat almost 500 times the people that Bryant Denny Stadium can? That would be almost 50 million people. Did you know that is the latest estimated number of people in modern slavery worldwide (49.6 million)?

Now imagine 12 million of those people being children...

Hope-Filled Rooms is trying to do our part to assist the women already involved and prevent future involvement. To find out more about what we do and how you can help, check out our webpage, www.hopefilledrooms.org

In past interviews, I have often been asked the questions, “Give us an example of a time you have had to multitask, and how did you handle the situation?” Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined my answer being what it is today…
As I work at a computer helping someone get a copy of their birth certificate, another girl asks for help filling out an application for a program, as another girl needs clothes to put on after her shower, as lunch arrives and we need to start serving. Then a phone call comes in, and within 30 minutes we are sitting in the ER by the bed of a young woman who has just experienced extremely traumatic events. Listening to her horrible story, while my mind already trying to figure out who to call for this woman to have a safe place to go to after the hospital.
I say all this not to say that we are anything special, but that we are able to do what we do by the grace of God. This is what the whole team of Hope-Filled Rooms workers face each week.

I am not the best at posting updates about what is going on, and I apologize for that. The truth is for us, slow and steady wins the race. We do not get flashy news headlines, and a lot of people don’t even know we exist, but that is ok. We have the honor of walking out the day to day with some amazing women and showing them the true love of Jesus, and you all help to make that possible. Please continue to pray for this ministry. It is the most important aspect of what we do. Thank you!

Today was such a bitter sweet day! We said goodbye to the little house that started it all. It was sad to leave it behind, but we are stepping into the next season with great anticipation.

For those that don’t know we have now been given access to a different facility that is better in location to the women we serve to do the daytime respite services. We are now looking for property or a house in unincorporated St. Claire County to be an emergency safe house for women when they are ready to leave. Please be in prayer as God does big things!!!

One other thing, don’t ever count yourself out from doing God’s plans. He took a very unlikely crew of redeemed misfits and some crazy ole brick chippers and built an army. Just imagine what He can do with you!!!
