Great environment, experiences, and adventures! Thank you to those that helped to defray some of the expense through our Walleye Weekend Soup Supper, the West O Taproots program, and our various other fundraisers. We learned new skills, tried new activities, worked as a team, and had fun!

Life in the campsite. If you don’t see your scout in these or previous posts, it is because they were at Chippewa Camp (we were at Sioux Camp, Cayuga camp site) doing high adventure activities: ATVs, sporting arrows, logging legends, paintball, whitewater rafting, sailing regatta, Aqua Rig, and water sports. You will have to use your imaginations when your scout tells you all about it!

Last night we held our annual flag retirement ceremony commemorating those who serve others. We honor scouts and scouters, parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters. We dedicate these flags to our service members, law enforcement, clergy, social workers, and councilors. We remember past and present mentors and comrades, the leaders and youth, and anyone who demonstrates and shares scout spirit. We especially remember those we have lost and those who couldn’t be with us. We remember Bernie, Oscar, Bob, Jerry, Gary, Gerry, Mason, and Roger.

More action at Tomahawk Scout Reservation. View from the fire tower. Yes, those trees are off in the distance, but the distance is vertical, not horizontal! Ask your scout if they had the opportunity to climb it and find out who the brave souls were that actually did.

It is midweek now and we have gotten our groove. We have been working on merit badges including: kayaking, swimming, canoeing, white water rafting, climbing, water sports, geology, geocaching, geology, leather working, mammals, and reptiles. Other activities include riding ATVs, archery, rifle shooting, a five mile hike, climbing a fire tower, visiting a logging camp, branding, candle making, two-man sawing, throwing tomahawks, and smithing our own mini tomahawks. Our 3 first-year scouts have been learning basic skills and learning how to work with a troop and patrol as well as working on their merit badges and taking part in our troop activities. A lot of firsts for everyone. Future adventures include horseback riding, canoeing across the lake to an ice cream shop, a rave party (that may be a lie!), and our own flag retirement ceremony. Everyone chipping in on the duties and responsibilities of our campsite. It looks like we will have rain moving in at the end of the week but beautiful weather so far.
