It was brought to our attention that there is a misconception going around Webster County, and the surrounding areas that the Highland Midden facility, the proposed landfill, would only be accepting local trash. We do not have a copy of the original article from the Webster Echo which we are fairly certain also states this , but here is a picture of our copy of the Nicholas Chronicle article which states “The landfill would accept garbage from Webster and 4 to 6 other counties to begin with, but would then open up to out of state garbage said Ringer.”

We have removed a post that was shared to this page in an effort to remain true to where this started. The letter to the DEP that we shared to object to the landfill has some wires crossed. The current permits open for objection are mining permits. They are NOT permits for the landfill. We apologize for the confusion and are working to take corrective action.
