This past Sunday Lt. Mallery and his son Josh participated in the 6th Annual Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk.

The event honored Lt. Scott Pavlick, making the day especially meaningful for our department and community. It was a great tribute to Scott and a wonderful event.

Josh finished 42nd overall, while Lt. Mallery finished 90th, out of 2,229 participants.

The Binghamton Fire Department is saddened to hear of the passing of retired Lieutenant Jim Snyder.

Jim joined the Binghamton Fire Department in 1973 and spent the majority of his career assigned to the Rescue. After being promoted to Lieutenant in 1985, he remained on the Rescue until his retirement in 2004, dedicating more than 30 years of service to the City of Binghamton.

Retirement never kept Jimmy away from the firehouse. He was a familiar face, regularly stopping by the stations and the training center to catch up with the crews. He was a gifted storyteller, and every visit came with unforgettable firehouse stories, plenty of laughs, and lessons from a career spent serving others. Just two weeks ago, Jimmy visited our newest recruit class to share some of those stories and pass along his experience to the next generation of firefighters.

Jim’s impact on this department extended far beyond his years of active service. He will be remembered for his dedication, his personality, and the friendships he built over a lifetime in the fire service.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jim’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.
