Mental Health Monday featuring Montana Grain Growers Association.

Farming & ranching come with long days, uncertainty and pressure that can weigh heavily on mental health. In this week’s feature, Trevor Schock shares a personal story about injury, recovery and the important of honest conversations, reminding rural communities that no one has to face challenges alone.

Take a moment to check in on your friends, neighbors and family members, and read the full story beyond the weather.

There’s something powerful about a room full of strong Montana women choosing to talk about what’s really going on beneath the surface.

Last week in Billings, the Montana Agri-Women spent an afternoon at their annual conference talking about mental health in agriculture. We talked about the highs, the lows, and everything in between—and how important it is to move the conversation beyond the weather.

Because in ag, we’re good at talking about markets, moisture, and machinery… but not always how we’re doing.

Let’s keep changing that.

Check in on your people. Ask the question—and stay long enough to hear the answer. 💛

National FFA Giving Day is the perfect opportunity to give-back, whether to your local chapter or the National FFA Organization.

FFA made a lasting impact on my life, and I encourage each of you to find a way to support the next generation of leaders in agriculture.

Give today. Grow tomorrow.

💙💛

Great news for Fallon County!

Great news for Fallon County!

Meet Kassie Maierhofer-Davis, Fallon County's new Community Health Worker (CHW)! 🌟 With roots in both education and agriculture, she brings a unique skillset that helps her connect deeply with ranching families, local schools, and the broader Fallon County community.

"As a relatively new member of Fallon County, I relocated from Tennessee last year to carry on my husband's family ranch operation. After noticing the limited mental health resources in Eastern Montana, I was driven to help improve access and support. I previously worked as an agriculture teacher and am now pursuing my master’s in clinical mental health counseling to become a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I’m passionate about supporting students, educators, and the agricultural community, expanding access to mental health care, and reducing stigma. I find joy in a good book, strong coffee, and meaningful conversation. I am thankful to be a part of Catalyst for Change and the Fallon County community!"

📞✨❤️ A Montana Moment Near Ringling

Driving through central Montana this week, we spotted something that made us smile — one of Jim Dolan’s iconic phone booths standing tall near Ringling.

If you know Jim’s work, you know it’s full of whimsy, wonder, and meaning. His art dots the Montana landscape — from steel horses galloping across the hills to installations that make us pause, reflect, and connect. As part of the Montana Phone Booth Project, this little phone booth did just that — a simple reminder that sometimes, even in the quietest places, we can still reach out and connect.

That’s what Beyond the Weather is all about: stories that go deeper, that spark connection, and remind us of the people and places that make Montana special.

Thanks, Jim, for continuing to inspire us to see beyond the weather. 💛❤️

💚🌾 A Big Thank You to the Sigma Alpha Sorority at Montana State University!

We’re sending a heartfelt thank you to the incredible women of Sigma Alpha in Bozeman for choosing to support Beyond the Weather through their recent fundraiser. Your generosity and enthusiasm mean so much — and your commitment to making a difference in rural communities truly embodies what this project is all about.

For those who may not know, Sigma Alpha is a professional sorority for women in agriculture, dedicated to developing women leaders who cultivate excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service. Their members bring passion, purpose, and plenty of Montana grit to everything they do.

Thank you, Sigma Alpha, for standing beside us and helping shine a light beyond the weather — on the stories, challenges, and heart of rural life. 💛💙
