Thank you Rep Marc Lombardo!

This one is personal to me. We lost our dear friend and firefighter Patrick Corbett to occupational cancer in 2021. H.5631 will provide our heroes with cancer screenings without out-of-pocket costs.

Busy day for the BFD today!

Engine 1, Engine 3, Car 10, and Car 5 responded to Route 3 North after a 10-wheel dump truck left the highway, crashed into the woods, and rolled over. Crews faced a challenging operation to reach the driver, who was thankfully uninjured, and assist the tow company with the recovery of the truck.

Later in the day, Engine 1, Engine 4, and Car 10 responded to a lightning strike on Andover Road. The strike hit a tree, traveled through a dog’s electric fence, and damaged some electrical panels at the home.

These were just two of the many incidents BFD responded to today, with crews handling over a dozen calls throughout the day.

On Sunday 7/12/26 Billerica Engine 1 and Car 5 initially responded to Lawrence for station coverage but were later sent to the scene of a working fire. Crews assisted with fire suppression and overhaul operations before returning to service. Great work by all involved.

Tonight, Car 10, S-2, Boat 1, Engine 5, Engine 2, Billerica Paramedics, and the Billerica Police Department responded to the Concord River between the Route 4 Bridge and the Route 3 Bridge for a person who was stranded in the river and heavy brush.

Boat 1’s crew made a difficult rescue in challenging conditions, navigating through dense brush to reach the patient before safely carrying them onto the boat. The patient was then transported by boat to the docks, where they were transferred to the crews from Engine 5, Engine 2, and Billerica Paramedics for further medical care.
Outstanding work by all responding companies, Billerica Paramedics, and the Billerica Police Department.
