Billerica Firefighters Local 1495 are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Bobby Kilduff. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kilduff family, the members of Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF, and the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts during this difficult time.

Robert “BK" Kilduff, Jr. exemplified what it meant to be a union firefighter. BK was passionate about his profession, assigned to Rescue Company 2, and passionate about improving the lives of his fellow brothers and sisters, working as a staff member of the PFFM for the last 15 years.

More than anything else, BK was passionate about being a father. The PFFM sends all of our love and support to both of his children and will stand with Boston Firefighters Local 718 IAFF to ensure they have whatever they need.

Every Friday before Memorial Day weekend, the members of Billerica Firefighters Local 1495 place flowers and flags at the graves of Billerica firefighters who have passed away. Those firefighters rest in cemeteries across Cape Cod, Lowell, and in two cemeteries here in Billerica.

This tradition stretches back as far as anyone can remember and remains one of the department’s most meaningful acts of remembrance and respect. This year, we had the honor of seeing sons place flowers and flags on their fathers’ graves, and cousins do the same for their family members. The crew of Engine 4, along with active-duty firefighters and retirees, all came together once again to carry on this honored tradition.

Group 4, Engine 1 trained one of the new recruits of the fire department today. Recruit training focused on “Long Lug Out” — also known as “Smooth, Bump, Bump” training.

This training teaches firefighters how to safely find their way out of a structure fire when visibility is zero by properly following the hose line to an exit.

It was a long, demanding day of training, but an important skill every firefighter must master to stay safe and make it home.

Jimmy Mac had a huge impact on our Billerica Fire IAFF Local 1495 union. He was always a phone call away and always willing to help our union whenever we needed him. He guided us when we needed answers and stood by us through some tough times.
Jimmy Mac will be greatly missed, and his loss will be felt throughout the state. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the entire firefighter community.

The members of Billerica Firefighters IAFF Local 1495 offer our heartfelt condolences to the loved ones, friends, and fellow Troopers mourning the loss of Massachusetts State Trooper Kevin Trainor.

Trooper Trainor’s bravery, dedication, and sacrifice exemplified the very best of public service. His heroic actions undoubtedly protected others, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who serve alongside him and the communities he impacted.

Despite the rain, Billerica firefighters, their families, and members of Billerica PD came together Saturday morning to clean up and beautify the Public Safety Memorial in front of Town Hall.

A big thank you to Captain Strunk, Captain Battcock, and Retired Chief Conway for spearheading the effort and bringing the community together in support of those who serve.
