Today we want to recognize one of our own, George Quintero. Through his battle with bone marrow cancer, George has continued to do what he loves—umpiring baseball and serving the game with dedication, courage, and heart. His strength on and off the field has inspired everyone around him while also helping raise awareness about the importance of blood donation.

George, your resilience reminds us that true champions aren’t measured by the battles they face, but by the courage they show while facing them. The entire West Texas Umpire Association stands behind you and your family as you continue this fight.

“Cancer may have started the fight, but it will never define the fighter. Strength, faith, and determination are stronger than any diagnosis.”

First off, we want to thank The Yard Crew because without those guys maintaining the fields, we wouldn’t be able to play softball or baseball. We also want to thank the City of Big Spring and the City of Stanton for everything they do to help maintain these fields for our athletes and communities.

We would also like to thank our families for always supporting us, because at times they hear us vent after games we’ve called, and they sacrifice a lot with us. We miss out on many family activities, but they continue to stand by our side every step of the way.

We also want to thank everyone who helped make this season such a success. From the players and parents to the coaches, volunteers, and fans, your support, dedication, and love for the game made this season truly special. We are grateful for the memories made, the friendships built, and the opportunity to be part of such an amazing community.

A huge thank you to Coahoma Baseball and Softball, Stanton Baseball, Big Spring Little League, and Colorado City Little League for allowing us to be part of the game we all love.

We also want to recognize all the volunteer coaches — thank you for investing your time, energy, and heart into these kids’ lives. The impact you make goes far beyond the field.

To all the new umpires who came out this season, thank you as well. We are continuing to grow as a family, and we hope to keep building something special together.

And finally, a special thank you to our senior umpires graduating this year — never stop pursuing your dreams and chasing greatness. The future is bright for each and every one of you.

“Teamwork divides the task and multiplies the success.”

“An umpire’s job isn’t to be noticed — it’s to protect the integrity of the game with courage, consistency, and heart.”

One thing about this organization is we stick together no matter what. Rookie umpire or senior umpire — it doesn’t matter. We push each other, support each other, and represent each other the right way. At the end of the day, the West Texas Umpire Association is more than an organization — we’re a brotherhood.

“Brotherhood isn’t built when things are easy — it’s built when people stand together through everything.”

Tonight and tomorrow, some of our own from the West Texas Umpire Association step into the Region Semifinals. The stage gets bigger, the pressure gets heavier, and the moments mean more — but preparation, discipline, and faith travel with you.

Just like David facing Goliath, it’s never about the size of the challenge… it’s about the heart behind the fight.

“David said to the Philistine, ‘You come against me with sword and spear… but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty.’” — 1 Samuel 17:45

Good luck to all our guys competing tonight and tomorrow. Represent with pride. Go Bulldogs. ⚾️

Some people will never understand the kind of strength it takes to keep showing up when life is hitting you the hardest. George works long hours, battles cancer every single day, and still puts on the uniform and steps on that field with us. That’s not just dedication to umpiring… that’s heart, courage, and a warrior mentality. We’re proud to stand beside you, brother. The fight continues and so do you. ❤️⚾️🥎

“A strong man doesn’t quit when he’s tired… he quits when the fight is won.”
