ISO Grief Therapist – Weekly Group Facilitation - Paid

I am seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to facilitate a weekly, grief-informed and trauma-informed support group for adults who have lost a loved one to a substance-related cause.

Group Details:

• Wednesdays, 5:30–6:45 pm in person

• Held at OASIS Community Center in Bethlehem, operated by my family’s nonprofit Speak Up for Ben, Inc.

• Group is offered free of charge to the community

• This is a well-established group, running continuously for 7 years

• The therapist who facilitated the group for the past 5 years has stepped down for medical reasons

Clinical Framework:

The group is grounded in grief-informed and trauma-informed care, with an understanding of substance use disorder as a family disease and the unique complexities of substance-related loss.

I attend each week as a bereaved mother and Certified Grief Educator, providing support and serving as a backup facilitator, so the clinician is not carrying this work alone.

Ideal candidates will have experience with grief, trauma, substance use disorder, and its impact on families, and feel comfortable facilitating group process.

DM me for details or to discuss fit. I’m also grateful for referrals to colleagues who may be interested. Thank you!

We are pleased to announce our executive director, Rhonda Miller, has earned the “Death and Grief Studies” certification!

Rhonda recently completed 150 hours of training from the internationally recognized Center for Loss and Life Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado. Course study included five separate training seminars titled,

* Comprehensive Bereavement Skills Training
* Understanding and Responding to Complicated Mourning Training
* Companioning the Mourner in Early Grief Training
* Support Group Facilitator Training
* Grief Companioning Skills Training

The courses were taught by Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D., a noted author, educator, and grief counselor. Founded in 1983 by Dr. Wolfelt, the Center For Loss and Life Transition is a private organization dedicated to furthering our understanding of grief.

Rhonda Miller is the founder and director of the OASIS Community Center in Bethlehem, PA, a family recovery support center dedicated to nurturing families impacted by a loved one’s substance use . Oasis is funded, in part, by a contract with Northampton County.

Beginning in 2019, Rhonda has provided compassionate grief support to hundreds of community members who have experienced a loved one’s substance related death. At no-cost, Rhonda offers confidential personal consultations and grief companionship, grief support groups, and remembrance programs for those who have lost a loved one to a substance related death.

“This has been a tremendous learning opportunity and an honor to be trained by noted author, educator and counselor Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt! Building upon my body of knowledge about grief- both from lived experience as well as education - I feel I possess an even greater capacity and grace to companion and help carry hurting family’s grief. 2 Corinthians 1:4 🙏”
