“Hey lucky fin friends...I’ve seen lots of new little babes join our community lately and I remember being so scared at the beginning.
Hopefully my daughter’s story will help reassure them a little.
Audrey just turned 15 years old. She was born missing her right arm below the elbow. It has never stopped her even for a minute. She is the most determined (read stubborn), independent and resourceful kid I have ever met. It has never occurred to her that things should be harder for her, she just figures them out and gets it done.
Audrey is a natural athlete. She swims, does wall climbing, plays softball and competitive hockey. Her dad says he knows why she was born the way she was....it was to give everyone else a fighting chance.
This past weekend she was on a hockey tournament and got three assists, two in the last game for a 3-0 win and was awarded player of the game.
She wants all the parents out there to know your limb different kid is just a kid and can accomplish amazing things!” - Meghan

In June of this year, a pregnant mother learned during their anatomy scan that their son would be born with several congenital limb differences. She reached out to Lucky Fin Project in hopes of learning more about limb differences before his arrival and hear from others with similar experiences. 🧡

“Hi everyone! 🧡 My daughter’s name is Lainey, and she is almost 8 months old. We didn’t know about her limb difference until she was born. She is growing healthy and adapting well!!

Lainey has her thumb and her pinky finger. She also has 2 small, underdeveloped fingers (nubbins). Her index finger is attached to the nubbins. Her doctor has recommended surgery to remove the nubbins and deepen the space by the index finger in hopes to eventually use it as another finger. I would really love to hear from families who have been through this or something similar with their little ones.

If your child has had this surgery, would you mind sharing your experience?

All in for Lucky Fin. This mom has a question.

“Hello, I was checking to see if anyone else has had their child with a limb difference pull on their short or long sleeve shirts at night? Our daughter is missing her left hand and in just the last few months has been pulling her left sleeve off at night before she falls asleep. I’m just curious to see if anyone else’s child did this and how we can help. I’m nervous about her wrapping her shirt around herself at night. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!”

I would love to introduce to you my daughter Aleia 🤍 When I found out during my pregnancy that my daughter Aleia would be born without her right hand, my world felt like it stopped for a moment. I was scared, worried, and overwhelmed by all the unknowns. I wondered what her future would look like, what challenges she might face, and how the world would treat my little girl. “Hello Lucky Fin Project!🧡

This is our precious babygirl Eliana Valentina, she turned 3 months today. At our 20 week anatomy scan we found out about her missing left hand. While pregnant, we were searching about her limb difference and we came across your page. Lucky Fin Project gave us so much hope and encouragement that our little one will do amazing and seeing a whole community of Lucky Fins. We also had the opportunity to connect with other parents through Scottish Rite Children Hand in Hand support group and learning how incredible there kids are doing. Thank you for creating this organization, letting us know we are not alone. “
