following is a message from the West Virginia State Fire Marshall's Office:

Dear Community Partners:
We have launched the new digital Home Safety Survey and are asking for the community’s help in sharing it. This survey will help residents identify potential fire hazards and improve safety conditions in their homes.

The interactive survey, accessible at firemarshal.wv.gov, is available to homeowners and renters across the state.

Our goal is to provide West Virginia families with the tools they need to protect what matters most. This survey is a quick, proactive measure that helps residents spot simple fixes—like clear escape routes or working smoke alarms—before an emergency strikes. By working together, we can reduce fire risks in every corner of our state.

Key features of the survey include:

Accessibility: A 5-minute assessment designed for any household.

Actionable guidance: Immediate safety advice based on participant responses.

Data-driven results: Survey responses assist the office in identifying and addressing community-specific fire safety trends.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office encourages all residents to complete the survey at firemarshal.wv.gov. Local fire departments can also use the tool to support community risk-reduction programs.

NEW EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM FOR MORGAN COUNTY

The Morgan County Office of Emergency Services, Morgan County WV 911 and Morgan County West Virginia are excited to announce the implementation of Smart911 as Morgan County's Official Public Emergency Alert System.

Smart911 allows residents, businesses, and visitors to receive important emergency notifications directly to their phones, email, or other devices. These alerts may include severe weather
warnings, evacuation notices, road closures, public safety emergencies, and other critical information affecting our community.

By creating a free Smart911 Safety Profile, you can provide valuable information about your household, family members, pets, medical needs, and emergency contacts. This information is
available to 9-1-1 dispatchers and first responders during an emergency, helping them provide faster and more effective assistance when seconds matter.

 Receive timely emergency alerts
Create a free, secure Safety Profile
Help first responders better assist you and your family

We encourage all Morgan County residents to sign up today and stay informed when emergencies occur.

Together, we can make Morgan County a safer and more prepared community.
