One of the unexpected gifts of this work has been meeting incredible people who care deeply about making a difference in our community, and that’s exactly what happened when we met

Over the years, their support of the Kimberly Anne Wilson Foundation and the Berkeley Heights 5K Race for Mental Health has meant so much to us. Beyond their generosity, we’ve simply appreciated getting to know people who consistently show up, give back, and lead with kindness.

Thank you for your unwavering support and for all you do to strengthen our community. We’re grateful to know you and proud to cheer on the work you continue to do. Community is built by people like this. 🩵

The giggles were nonstop during this activity with Kris Silvestry from Peace of Mind Counseling and Wellness Center.

What looks like simple fun, jumping together in unison, actually has a purpose! Movement can help impact cortisol levels, our body's stress hormone, and support relaxation.

The best part? The students were laughing, connecting, and helping regulate their bodies without even realizing it.

Sometimes mental health tools don't look like sitting still. Sometimes they look like silly movement! 🩵

This Mental Health Awareness Month, at Cicely Tyson Elementary School, students in grades 1–3 practiced an important coping skill with Kris Silvestry, LPC from Peace of Mind Counseling and Wellness Center.

Through guided imagery, students explored how their bodies react differently to positive thoughts versus feelings of anger and frustration. They learned that when difficult emotions arise, they can pause, breathe, and visit a peaceful place in their mind before reacting.

These small tools can make a big difference. Teaching children healthy coping skills early helps them build emotional awareness and confidence that can last a lifetime.

Children thrive when they feel safe, supported, heard, and loved. They need trusted adults, healthy ways to express emotions, opportunities to play and create, and access to mental health resources that help them navigate life’s challenges.

At the Kimberly Anne Wilson Foundation, we believe every child deserves these supports. Not just during Mental Health Awareness Month, but every single day of the year!

Through school programs, therapy workshops, wellness initiatives, assemblies, and community partnerships, we are working to bring meaningful mental health resources directly to students and families.

Together, we can help build healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities for our children.

Today, students at Cicely Tyson Elementary School explored a different form of mental health support: dance movement therapy.

Led by Kaoru Ikeda, dancer, choreographer, and dance movement educator. The students had the opportunity to express themselves through movement, creativity, and play. The room was filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of silly moments, but also meaningful engagement as the children followed along and embraced the experience.

Movement can be a powerful tool for emotional expression and stress relief, especially for young children. At the Kimberly Anne Wilson Foundation, we believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to helping a child open up, process emotions, and build healthy coping skills.

Every child connects differently, and sometimes support looks like movement, joy, and dance! 🩵

In this role-play activity, students from Connie Palmer’s Conflict Resolution Workshop practiced how to handle hurtful comments, communicate their feelings, and work through conflict in a healthy way.

By turning a difficult moment into a conversation, students learned real-life coping skills, empathy, emotional regulation, and problem-solving strategies they can use both inside and outside the classroom.

Conflict resolution skills help students build stronger friendships, improve communication, and support positive mental health outcomes. 🩵
