In the safety of Christ's love, we realize and accept our weakness, our need for grace, for mercy, for the love that created us and gave us life. Our dependence upon God, our need for the strength of God frees us from the futility of relying upon ourselves. Living in this acceptance leads not to insecurity or negative thoughts about ourselves but to a life where peace means more than just the absence of conflict and disappointment. Jesus himself is Peace, the Prince of Peace, whose presence within us transforms how we experience loss and unrealized hopes. We have no knowledge of what tomorrow may bring, except the certainty that our Lord will be with us, not as a passive, distant figure “out there” somewhere, but a Good Shepherd who gives us himself.
