What fun. Some seemed way too familiar with how to take these photos. Oh the stories I heard…I guess with crimes like that, there are bound to be some good stories though.

Thank you to all who made this event a success. The Roast of Judge Cecil Campbell was a night to remember. I learned so much about him and happy to have been part of this program. The purpose of the event was to raise money for the Rotary Club of Benton, so we can continue to serve our community. These funds are used for all of our community service projects and events- the Benton Christmas Parade, city beautification projects (like the new Welcome to Benton signs), scholarships for high school students, contributions to repair historic buildings, necessity packages to those in need, etc. If you have a passion for service over self, contact us. We would love to hear your ideas and have you join us in any capacity.

Christina Weber, the Service Center Director for Averitt Express, was our guest speaker today. Christina has been with Averitt Express for 20 years and passionate about building customer relationships and giving back to the community. Averitt Express is not just a transportation, warehouse, and logistics company. They give back to the community through Averitt Cares for Kids, inspired by Danny Thomas. They are the largest employee-driven contributor of giving funds to St Jude with 97% of associates contributing. The Shreveport location contributes 100%. Each employee gives at least $1 per week. They have donated $16 million to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital since 1990. Of that, $1.4 million was contributed in 2025 alone. St Jude’s ensures families do not pay expenses while their children are getting the care they need. They pay all travel expenses, living expenses, etc. Together, many people giving a consistent small amounts can make a big difference in the lives of others. They are also in the middle of bike drive with the Greenwood City Police Department. Christina finds areas of service or community needs through social media and word of mouth. She and those around her are truly making a difference in the lives of others. Thank you for joining us and sharing your giving heart.

If you would like to join us or be one of our guest speakers, join us every Monday at San Miquel on Benton Rd at 5:30 for fellowship with the Benton Rotary meeting at 6:00.

Here is what the Benton Rotary Board did today. We attended Part I (Lisa) and Part II (Amy and Rick) of the Rotary Leadership Institute. Just another resource the rotary offers its members to attend. We met some great people and gained new knowledge to use in Rotary and in our everyday lives.

We had the pleasure of having District Governor, Charlotta Nordyke, speak at our Benton Rotary meeting this week. Also in attendance was the President of the Oil City Rotary and Assistant Governor, Bobby Willis, and the District Secretary, Richard Brontoli. WHY is Rotary something you should be involved in? Ask one of us. We are all passionate about living a safe, healthy, happy, purposeful life. It’s also great for networking and offers free leadership resources for businesses. Come check us out. We meet every Monday at 5:30 at San Miquel’s on Benton Rd.
