One of the major conversations at the 2027 Michigan Black Summit will be Black Education and, more importantly, Black Action.
We are currently looking for educational leaders who have successfully turned around schools and improved outcomes for Black students.

Not people with theories, but people with results.
Who are the educators, superintendents, principals, and turnaround specialists in Michigan that have transformed struggling schools and helped students succeed?

Five years ago, the Michigan Black Summit started with a simple idea: bring Black Michigan together and have the conversations that others were afraid to have. We talked about education. We talked about healthcare. We talked about economic development. We talked about the challenges facing our communities and what it would take to move us forward.

Fast forward to today, and what started as a vision has become a movement.

We've brought together elected officials, activists, business leaders, educators, healthcare professionals, faith leaders, and everyday people who simply want to see Black Michigan win.
But in 2027, I'm asking a different question.
How many more conversations do we need before we start moving differently?

That's why our 5th Annual Michigan Black Summit is focused on Black Action.

At this year's Michigan Black Summit, we were honored to have activist and freedom fighter Trische Duckworth lead a powerful conversation about the tragic death of Krystal Clark and the urgent need for justice, accountability, and systemic change.

What makes that conversation even more heartbreaking is that since then, three more women have lost their lives. While communities continue to grieve, families continue to seek answers, and advocates continue to raise their voices, too many people are still suffering.

The Michigan Black Summit has always been about more than conversations. It is about action, awareness, and ensuring that the stories of those impacted are not forgotten. We must continue asking hard questions, demanding accountability, and standing with families who deserve justice.

Their names matter. Their lives mattered. And our commitment to change must be stronger than ever.

Regardless of where you stand on this issue, it is important that residents have access to information, understand the facts, and have an opportunity to be heard.
