This recent arrest in Grant Parish is a powerful reminder of why family communication and awareness matter so much.
We are incredibly grateful to the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office for their vigilance and commitment to protecting our children. Their work stopped a real threat before harm could occur.
While the child referenced in this case was not, the intent was real — and situations like this remind us that online safety, trust, and open communication at home are critical.
This is exactly why Renewing Paths offers the Strengthening Families Program for families with children ages 6–17.
This program:
• Helps parents and children talk openly — even about hard topics
• Gives families a shared language for trust, boundaries, and safety
• Strengthens relationships before problems arise
• Is for all families — not “problem kids,” not crisis situations
We’ve heard directly from middle school and high school students who say this program helped them open up to their parents in ways they never had before.
💙 The program is completely free thanks to funding from a Strengthening Families Program Grant from The Rapides Foundation.

A lengthy investigation by the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of a Shreveport man for a number of crimes.
For several weeks, Clayton Bowers, thought he was communicating with a young girl in Grant Parish. Bowers traveled to Grant Parish to meet what he thought was a young girl, and was met by the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Along with a number of sexual related items that he brought with him, was a loaded pistol.
“The detective did an incredible job of investigating this case. This is a true predator and our communities are safer with him in jail,” stated Sheriff Steven McCain.
Clayton Andrew Bowers, 40 years old, of Shreveport, was arrested for Computer Aided Solicitation for Sexual Purposes, Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile and Attempted Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile.
