$5 FRIDAY‼️ Help us get Ayura & Niquía to Oregon!

Ayura and Niquía were just puppies when they were found abandoned in a box on a soccer field in Oaxaca, Mexico, alongside their three siblings.

Sadly, stories like theirs are very common. With limited shelter resources, fosters, and adopters, local rescuers are overwhelmed by the millions of stray dogs living on the streets. They do everything they can - but it’s impossible to keep up.

Thankfully, Ayura, Niquía, and their siblings were rescued by caravanacanina and oaxacan_dog_adoption. And now, they have a chance to come to Oregon on September 7th to find the forever homes they deserve.

But we need YOUR help to get them here. Their flights cost $250 per dog - that’s $500 total. If 100 people donate just $5 today, their flights are completely covered.

Every $5 gets these two sweet, dog-friendly girls one step closer to Oregon and their fresh start.

Chase is wondering why nobody has scooped him up yet 🥺

This handsome 4 month old shepherd mix is an absolute lover who makes friends everywhere he goes. Whether he’s at an adoption event, out on a walk with his foster, or hanging with the other pups at the office, Chase is a total social butterfly.

Chase came to us in July after being found living on the streets of San Pancho, Mexico. Since arriving in the U.S., he’s been stealing hearts left and right - and his foster, Brittney, can’t say enough great things about him:

“Chase is such a special pup! He’s incredibly smart, learns quickly, is potty trained, great on a leash, and wonderful with kids. He loves his people and is just as happy getting all the love and snuggling up with you. Whoever gets to call Chase theirs will be incredibly lucky!”

80 animals spayed and neutered this weekend at our BIGGEST local clinic yet!! 🎉

That’s 80 local animals who will no longer contribute to pet overpopulation - and hundreds of thousands of unwanted litters prevented. That is the power of spay/neuter!

A HUGE thank you to our incredible vet team and volunteers who worked two very long days, everyone who brought their pets in, donated toward the clinic, and fostered our rescue dogs for the weekend so we could make room for surgery days.

We couldn’t have done it without this amazing community 🧡

Nectarine’s journey - rescued from Baja, Mexico in 2024 🧡 She was only 9 months old when she was rescued from a rough neighborhood, but life on the streets had already taken a toll. She was extremely skinny, covered in mange, and desperately needed someone to give her a chance.

Thankfully, our rescue partners at BAJA S A F E took her in and helped her heal. Once she was healthy, Nectarine made her way to Oregon, where she found her forever family.

Today, her name is Mitzi, and she is living the happy life she always deserved. Here’s an update from her mom, Emily:

“Nectarine, now known as Mitzi, had brought so much joy, love, and laughter into our lives. She charms everyone she meets, making friends on 2 and 4 legs. She loves running full speed, snoring on the couch, and helping around the house. We’re so grateful to have her in our family!”

Can you take a rescue dog home for the weekend?? 🙏🧡

We currently have several rescue dogs staying at our office in Bend, OR, and we’d love to get every single one of them into a foster home for just the weekend, while we host our first-ever two-day spay/neuter clinic.

🏠 Sleepover: Friday–Monday
📍 Return: Anytime Monday

That’s it! Just one weekend can make a huge difference. It gives our clinic team the space they need for two very busy days AND gives our dogs a much-deserved break from the shelter environment to decompress, sleep on a couch, and enjoy a little getaway of their own.

Happy National Dog Day to the incredible animals who make life so much better. We truly can’t imagine a world without dogs and the unconditional love they give us every single day.

Working in rescue, we’re constantly inspired by their resilience. Dogs who have experienced the worst of the worst - neglect, abandonment, abuse - and somehow still come out the other side ready to trust, love, and give humans another chance.

To know a dog and to love a dog is an incredible gift, and one we never take for granted. Every walk, every tail wag, every cuddle, every ordinary day together is precious.

And for the dogs who haven’t found that love yet, we will never stop fighting. Because every dog deserves to know what it feels like to be loved. Every dog deserves a family. And every dog deserves a safe place to call home.

Happy National Dog Day to the dogs who inspire us to keep going every single day. 🧡

Please say hello to Tango, Rango, Jango, Mango, Mabel and June Bug!

This adorable litter of 4 month old puppies just made their way all the way from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Oregon to start their next chapter with Street Dog Hero!

Their journey was made possible through our partnership with Furry Freight, a local organization that helps dogs in need by connecting them with rescue partners and transporting them to communities where they have a better chance at finding loving homes.

Now these six sweet pups are looking for FOSTERS! If you can open your home to one of them, please email [email protected].
