In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, White Bison proudly supports The Moose Hide Campaign, a grassroots initiative uniting both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal men against violence directed at women and children. Wearing this moose hide patch symbolizes your dedication to honor, respect, and safeguard the women and children in your life, while collaborating with other men to eliminate violence.

Groups or organizations can obtain FREE starter kits containing 25 Moose Hide Patches by following this link and providing the necessary details: www.tinyurl.com/warriorsareback. This initiative can also be embraced by women’s groups, youth programs, churches, and recovery communities.

We encourage participants to:
1. Take a vow to stand against violence towards Aboriginal women and children (the vow is included on the card).
2. When appropriate, invite a respected woman in the community, such as an Elder or other community leader, to make opening remarks before the men take the vow, potentially turning it into a Ceremony.
3. Wear the patch whenever and wherever it feels appropriate. Speak out! Silence can be interpreted as consent, so be vocal about your stance against violence.
4. Encourage younger men, including teenagers, to wear the patch as well.
5. Invite the Grandmas to show their support by pinning the moose hide patch on the man after he has taken the vow.
6. Have councils and other leaders publicly announce their support for the Moose Hide Campaign.
7. Encourage all men in recovery to wear the patch during recovery meetings.
8. Engage family programs within your communities to back this initiative, urging men in these programs to vow to protect women and children.

COMING SOON ➡ Resource: Intersections Between Domestic & Sexual Violence

Domestic and sexual violence thrive in isolation, shame, confusion, and silence. These are pervasive issues, shrouded in stereotypes that hinder awareness and support.

There is no single factor that causes violence to happen, rather, it is a combination of factors at all levels within our ecosystems that have the ability to impact the risk of violence we witness or experience.

Morning folks!

It is with a heavy heart that I let everyone know that I have resigned from my position as of October 14th.

It has been an amazing 5 and a half, almost 6 years. I have appreciated watching everyone grow and move through their life and career paths over the course of my time here.

It has been a blessing to work with all of you and wish you luck with all your future endeavors.

Please be patient with us during this transition time. Do not send anymore emails to [email protected]. Future emails can and should be sent to [email protected].

I can be contacted at [email protected] if needed.

All the best,
Ashley
