We had a great time at our annual Farm Day at Saddlehill Winery. Our group had a tractor tour of the beautiful grounds, visited the horses, chickens, and alpacas, and enjoyed a delicious lunch. Thank you to Saddlehill for your generosity and partnership!

Hosted by Bryce Wooten and NDAC member Summer Parrish, this episode of Where the Ramp Ends features NDSC Policy & Advocacy Co-Director Stephanie Smith Lee discussing what families, advocates, and educators need to know about IDEA, OSEP, and why these protections matter.

Stephanie, who served as Director of OSEP under President George W. Bush, also explains the potential consequences of moving the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and what it could mean for students with disabilities.

NDSC is hosting it's first Policy Summit this year! If you ever thought about learning more about how policy has a direct impact on our community or how to talk to congressional members, this is a great starting place.

The Summit will take place September 29 and 30, 2026, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel and on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. This two-day event will help advocates build the skills and confidence to speak up for policies that matter to people with Down syndrome and their families.

This event is designed for advocates at every level, including self-advocates. Plain language materials and self-advocate focused breakout sessions will be available to help make the experience welcoming and accessible. On the first day, participants will take part in practical advocacy training. Attendees will learn the basics of policy and gain practical tools for talking with elected officials and their staff. On the second day, advocates will head to Capitol Hill for Hill Day. Participants will meet with Members of Congress and their teams to share personal stories and advocate for important policies.

Registration Fees• General Admission: $121• Children (ages 3-12): $60• People with Down syndrome and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (ages 3+): $50

Well that’s a wrap on our 18+ Cooking Series! 👩‍🍳🥗🍝

Over the past several months, our chefs and partners teamed up to prepare healthy, full meals together — learning new cooking skills and building confidence in the kitchen. And the best part? Sitting down together afterward to enjoy the meal they created as a group.

A huge THANK YOU to the amazing Vetri Community Partnership for partnering with us on this special series and helping make it such a meaningful experience for our participants!
